There has been a recent positive Leptospirosis case in Olathe. The dog is currently receiving care at K-State Veterinary College. We offer the leptospirosis vaccine to all our canine patients. You may have previously opted not to give your pet this as it is not considered a core vaccine like Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, and Bordetella (Kennel cough). It is getting closer to one in more recent years as cases increase. We also offer a Lyme vaccine for those outdoorsy and tick collecting pups, as well as canine influenza for those that board or travel often. Feel free to reach out to the office for questions. You can always check your pets vaccines on the PetDesk App.

Rehab Spotlight 📣📣📣

This is Gwen
Gwen has luxating patellas. This is a condition where the kneecap does not stay in place and will slide off the top of the knee to the inside.

This condition is graded from 1-4 and is very common in small breed dogs. If you’ve ever seen your little dog skip or seem to have a little hitch in her giddy up you are likely familiar.

Most grade 1-2 luxating patellas do not need surgical or medical management. However, Gwen is special

Hers does seem to cause her pain and discomfort and she tends to have hers luxate multiple times a day

So Gwen comes to physical rehab!!! We do massage therapy, cold laser therapy, strengthening exercises, and underwater treadmill therapy.

We are proud of Gwen here and the hard work she puts into her therapy

We address many other conditions and concerns with rehab therapy as well ranging from: arthritis care, post surgery recovery, weight loss, and more

If you are interested in finding out more about our rehab services please call, email, or visit our website

This week we lost a good dog, friend, and coworker. You may have been greeted or visited by Echo (AKA. Sheppy) in the lobby. You may have seen her working in the reception hub, or seen her peeking into exam rooms checking on customer service. She was often a star of our social media posts especially during Covid. Sadly she passed suddenly and unexpectedly this weekend. She will be missed by all of us.

Say hello to Jackson!

Jackson is a miniature dachshund who had the misfortune of having an IVDD event that resulted in his needing surgery to repair his spine.

Jackson was fortunate enough to do well with his surgery and perform exceptionally well with his rehab therapy

Jackson came and saw Ashley our resident in house Certified Companion Animal Rehabilitation Therapist (CCAT) over the last few months and was able to graduate today!

Ashley employed such modalities as photobiomodualtion, underwater treadmill, massage, and targeted exercises to help return Jackson to his normal spunky self

If you have any questions about IVDD or rehabilitation in general call or email Ashley at the clinic

It’s our business, to take care of your business!

Did you know a group of ferrets is called a business?
It might be because they are into everything!
We love seeing ferrets! The most common illnesses that they get are endocrine diseases. Insulinoma, a disease where the pancreas creates too much insulin. Adrenal disease where the adrenal gland is over productive.
They also need yearly vaccines to prevent Rabies and Distemper.
