Since the organization began in 1990, more than 6,000 greyhounds/sighthounds have found their forever homes within our adoption radius.

Kansas City Retired Greyhounds as Pets (KCREGAP) is a 501(c)3 not for profit charitable organization that finds forever, loving homes for retired greyhound racing dogs, lurchers and other sighthounds. These dogs may be anywhere from und

er 1 year old to 8 or 9 years old when they come to our group, and come from different backgrounds. They then receive any needed veterinary care, including: spay/neuter, dental cleaning, vaccinations, heartworm preventative, and treatment for any intestinal parasites. The dogs are then placed in foster homes so that they can learn “house rules” as many have never been in a home before, and may have never seen stairs, have had a dog bed of their own, or played with toys. These special foster families help to make the dogs’ transition to their forever home a success

There’s something magical in the air… The Great Global Greyhound Walk is BACK, and KC REGAP is ready to make this year’s walk a supernatural success! 💚🐾

Join us Sunday, September 27 as greyhounds, lurchers, sighthounds and their humans gather in KC to celebrate these incredible dogs and raise awareness for sighthounds around the world!

✨ This year’s theme: MYTHICAL MUTTS! ✨
Costumes are highly encouraged, so start dreaming up your most fantastical look! 🦄💚

🕦 Check-in: 11:30 AM
🐾 Walk begins: 12:00 PM

All well-behaved breeds are welcome to join us, but only greyhounds and members of the sighthound family count toward the official global tally!

Fred & Christine & their whippet, Ransom, found handsome Solo so adorable they had to take him home.

When Solo’s foster parents checked in with them to see how things were going, they learned that Solo had recovered from the ordeal by taking a nap with Fred. 😴🥰
