🌟 Senior Spotlight 🌟

Right now, our shelter is overflowing with senior cats and dogs, and sadly, they are often the ones who wait the longest for a family of their own. Too many are overlooked simply because of their age, but these sweet souls deserve love and comfort just as much as any puppy or kitten.

Senior pets have so much to offer. They are loving, grateful, and often calmer companions who are past the chaos of their younger years. All they want is a soft bed, a kind hand, and someone to spend their golden years with.

Age is just a number, and every animal deserves the chance to know what it’s like to be cherished. As we feature some of our amazing senior residents, we hope you’ll see what we see—beautiful souls who still have so much love left to give.

Please help us share their stories and consider opening your heart and home to a senior pet. Their happily ever after matters, too. 💜🐾

Meet some of our adoptable pups!

Each of these dogs are special in their own way. They deserve more than a shelter kennel — they deserve forever homes. Please help us share their stories so they can find the families they’ve been waiting for. 🐾🏡❤️

🐾We are providing Low-cost Vaccines and Microchips this Wednesday from 9am to 11am at Forest Park in Ottawa KS🐾
This is a drive-through, first come first serve event. Pay $5 per pet to receive 1 or all 3 of the services in the bundle.
☑️Enter at the main entrance on the South end by the pool and wind your way up and around to the trailer parked by the dog park.
☑️Stay in your car until it is your turn to be served at Prairie Paws's mobile vet clinic.
☑️Keep in mind that arriving before 9am can make it hard for us to get set up and can extend your wait time.
☑️Medical records are delivered electronically after the clinic and can take up to 7 days to be generated. Email addresses are required.
☑️Cats must be in carriers and dogs must be on leashes, if you need to borrow a cat carrier you can do so at Prairie Paws any time during our open hours.
☑️You do not have to live in Franklin County to participate, this event is open to everyone.
☑️ The bundle includes a microchip, rabies vaccine for pets over 3mo of age, FVRCP for cats, DAPPV for dogs.
☑️We accept cash, check and venmo.
☑️There is no appointment needed, join the line between 9am and 11am to be served.
☑️While this clinic doesn't verify residency or financial status, if these services are affordable to you at your regular veterinarian, we ask that you continue to support those businesses so that we can focus our resources on pets that would otherwise go unvaccinated.

A huge THANK YOU to our local Dollar General on the south side of town for hosting a donation drive to benefit the shelter! 💜

We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our community and the support shown by everyone who donated. Every bag of food, toy, & cleaning supply donated helps us provide the best possible care for the animals who rely on us.

Small communities do amazing things, and we are so lucky to be surrounded by people and businesses who care about animals in need. Thank you to Dollar General for organizing this drive and to everyone who contributed. Your kindness makes a real difference every single day!
