✨ LADY ✨

2017 AQHA Palomino Mare | 16 HH | Ottawa, KS

Lady is a beautiful 2017 AQHA palomino mare standing 16 hands. She is a mare that I have really come to like in the short time I’ve had her and believe has the potential to make someone a very nice riding horse with continued consistency and training.

I purchased Lady on June 21st from an equine dentist as a project to give a refresher to, with the intention of either keeping her or finding her a new home depending on how she worked out for what I needed. I was told she had been sitting for approximately a year and a half and had only recently started being worked with again in their spare time.

The only history I have is that her previous owner’s niece purchased her from an auction with the intention of using her as a recipient mare, but she was never used for that purpose. She had essentially been sitting until they realized they needed to either do something with her or find her a new home.

Since bringing her home, I unfortunately haven’t had as much time with her as I originally hoped, so consistency has been lacking. That said, she has already shown me a LOT of potential.

I did groundwork with her and gave her first ride with me on June 27th. She was wonderful. We then took her on a trail ride at Hillsdale Lake on July 3rd and she was beyond perfect. I got off on the trails to move big branches and hopped back on. She was so good for me. On July 10th, I hauled her to a friend’s place down the road and rode her down their long driveway and along our gravel road. These experiences showed me that Lady can absolutely handle new environments, hauling, trail riding, and time off. She just needs someone willing to put the fundamentals and consistency back into her training.

Lady is nearly perfect on the ground and is very respectful to work with.

She:

● Backs with minimal pressure
● Stands for the farrier
● Bathes
● Fly sprays
● Handles routine handling well
● Has been trail ridden
● Hauls
● Has been ridden in different environments
● Has been ridden at a walk, trot and lope
● Has been worked through desensitizing exercises

She is a smart mare and seems to learn quickly when given clear direction.

⚠️ Full Disclosure — Lady Is NOT ready to go and ride like she’s SAFE and reliable.

I want to be completely honest about Lady because finding the right home for her is much more important to me than simply selling her.

Lady has had a few bucking/spooking incidents more recently that we are currently working through and will continue to do so until she finds her new home. I think they come from her being frightened and insecure so she’s definitely missing some foundational training that causes her to react the way she has. I’m happy to share in full detail of these incidents as well as provide videos of what I do have of them.

❤️ What I Think of Lady

Despite everything I’ve listed above, I genuinely really like this mare.

I don’t believe she is mean, aggressive, or malicious with these bucking fits. In fact, she is incredibly respectful and pleasant to handle on the ground. Her reactions seem much more consistent with a horse that is insecure, lacks some fundamentals, and needs a confident person to give her clear direction.

I think Lady is going to thrive with someone who understands horses, is confident in the saddle, and is willing to continue building her confidence and filling in the holes in her training.

She seems like the type of mare that wants to know who is in charge and needs strong, fair leadership and consistency. With the right person, I think she has the potential to become a really nice horse.

She has already shown me that she can haul, trail ride, ride on the road, work in new places, take time off, and handle a variety of situations. She simply isn’t to the point yet where I would call her a finished or beginner-safe horse by any means.

I would NOT recommend Lady for a beginner or someone looking for a finished, push-button horse. She needs an experienced, confident rider who is comfortable working through a horse’s insecurities and continuing her education.

That said, if you’re looking for a pretty AQHA palomino with a good foundation on the ground, a willing attitude, and a lot of potential to make your own, Lady is worth coming to meet.

I am happy to answer any questions, including the hard ones. I would rather tell you everything I know and find Lady the right home than leave anything out.

✨ Dancer — 12-13yo Friesian/TB Mare | 16hh | Ottawa, KS ✨

This is a very difficult sale. Dancer is a mare I never intended to part with, but due to financial circumstances I am looking for the right person to give her the home and partnership she deserves.

Dancer came to me in early 2025 to help sell for my neighbor, who had owned her for 4 years but was no longer able to keep her due to health reasons. Somewhere along the way, I ended up falling in love with this mare and she became much more than just a horse I was helping find a home for.

Dancer is a beautiful, sweet 16hh Friesian/TB mare with a huge personality. She is an absolute love bug in the pasture and will happily soak up attention, follow you around, and be your barn buddy. She was even part of our engagement photos on June 14th, which made that special moment even more memorable. ❤️ That was actually the first time my fiancé had ever ridden Dancer, and she took great care of him. He is not someone who rides often, which says a lot about her ability to be a kind, forgiving partner for someone who knows the basics and is confident.

Dancer has primarily been a trail horse and that is truly where she shines. She is happy to walk, trot, and canter out on the trails and has been a reliable partner for me on many adventures — including long rides searching for lost cattle and horses, riding alone in unfamiliar places, and navigating challenging situations. She wouldn’t be what I would consider spooky, but I would say she’s “watchy” with new experiences. Definitely not a horse and has never been one to buck, rear, or bolt.

She is best suited for an intermediate to experienced rider due to her size, energy, and mare personality. She is smart, willing, and tries hard, but she does like to express her opinions. Arena work will require patience and consistency, as she can get sassy when she feels pressured or bored. With the right partnership and regular riding, I truly believe she has the potential to become an incredible horse.

Dancer thrives with confident leadership. She has improved tremendously with her ground manners and respects boundaries, but she can still get buddy sour and needs someone who will keep her focused and respectful. When she trusts her person, she is incredibly sweet and willing.

She does well hauled alone and is often at her best when she knows her rider is her person. She can ride alone or with a group and has improved greatly as a trail leader, although she may occasionally need encouragement with new obstacles or situations.

Dancer has been ridden ba****ck in a halter or fully tacked up. She rides well in a square snaffle and is responsive without needing much pressure. She stands tied, loads, leads, lunges, bathes, fly sprays, stands for the farrier, and knows many Clinton Anderson groundwork fundamentals. She has excellent feet and does not require shoes, even on rocky terrain.

She is currently only being ridden about once or twice a month, but she handles time off well and is the horse I trust when I need a dependable mount. With someone who makes her their main horse and invests consistent time into her, I believe the possibilities are endless.

Dancer is unregistered, but DNA testing has been submitted and I will gladly share any information that comes back.

She is current on deworming, on a 6wk farrier schedule, and will have updated vaccines and Coggins before leaving. Teeth appointment and chiropractic evaluation are also being scheduled. PPE is welcome at buyer’s expense.

Looking for a knowledgeable, caring home that appreciates a smart, honest mare with personality. A good home is more important than a quick sale.

Leads, ties, loads, stands for farrier, fit sprays, bathes, lunges, tacks up easily, etc.

Can be ridden alone or in a group. If he’s alone, he needs an intermediate/experienced rider as he has a bit more go to him but still listens.
Can be ridden by a beginner if he’s with his buddies as he’s very laid back and and will do whatever’s asked of him.

He will holler out for his friends if he’s pulled out of the pasture alone. Is the perfect gentleman when he’s pulled out with his buds.

Classic buddy sour horse BUT with the right person, he will do everything you ask for. If you want him as a beginner horse, you need to make sure you have him as a secondary horse where he’s always with a friend. If you want to be able to ride out alone. Then please be an intermediate to experienced rider before you reach out.

Rowan sat for nearly two years before he came to us and never bucked upon restarting him. He will however, take advantage of a beginner rider that doesn’t correct him when he’s alone which is why I’m not selling him as a beginner friendly horse unless he’s for someone who wants to put their boyfriend or friends on for them to join you in rides.
