A little PB update!

After many years of basically being attached at the hip, Brooke is going to be taking a big step back from PB. October will be her last month working with us full time before she heads off to farrier school!

This is something Brooke has wanted to do for years, and I’m so excited that she’s finally getting the chance to go for it. She’s definitely not disappearing either. Once she’s back from school, she’ll still be around and helping out when and where she can — you just won’t see her at the barn every day like you’re used to.

Brooke’s last show with us will be the September Arabian show in Moses Lake, so come wish her well! We’ll be having appetizers on Friday at the show for everyone to come hang out, eat some food, and help us send her off on her next adventure.

PB is going to look a little different going forward, and there are some new and exciting things coming that I’ll share more about soon. But for now, we’re excited for Brooke and this next chapter… and I’m personally very excited about having a farrier on speed dial.

Assistant Horse Trainer Wanted

We are looking for a motivated, dependable Assistant Horse Trainer to join our program and work closely with an experienced trainer specializing in Arabian and Half-Arabian show horses starting mid October.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to develop their horsemanship and training skills while learning from an experienced professional.

Responsibilities

* Saddling and tacking horses
* Lunging and groundwork
* Grooming and daily horse care
* Conditioning and exercising horses
* Assisting with young horses and c**t starting
* Helping prepare horses for the show ring
* General barn duties and maintaining a clean, organized environment
* Learning and assisting with the training of Arabian and Half-Arabian show horses
* Work with different breeds.

Ideal Candidate

* Strong basic horsemanship skills
* Comfortable handling and working around horses
* Reliable, hardworking and willing to learn
* Patient and observant
* Able to take direction and work as part of a team
* Experience with Arabian or Half-Arabian horses is a plus
* Experience with young horses, lunging or starting horses is a plus
* Previous show experience is preferred but not required for the right person

What We Offer

The right person will have the opportunity to learn directly from an experienced Arabian and Half-Arabian show-horse trainer, gaining hands-on experience in training, conditioning, young-horse development and show preparation. Will also gain experience with all different breeds that come into the program.

This is an opportunity for someone who is serious about building a career in professional horse training and developing their skills with quality show horses.

We had such a fantastic and successful time at Region 5 this year with an incredible barn family. The ribbons are great, but this regional reminded us of something much more important, how much of this sport is mental.

I think it’s easy to get caught up in the competition and forget that. There were several moments this week that brought us to tears as we watched our girls push through some really big mental obstacles.

As someone who grew up with an incredible amount of anxiety, there is nothing that fills my heart more than watching them face those fears, push through them, and come out successful on the other side. Winning a class is exciting, but watching someone believe in themselves when they didn’t think they could is the kind of victory that sticks with you.
