Oswego City Animal Shelter We are a municipal Shelter and Animal Control office. We serve the City of Oswego. We are not affiliated with the Oswego County Humane Society, or the SPCA.

We are Animal Control/law enforcement for the City of Oswego. To adopt a pet you must fill out an adoption application to be approved by our staff. There is a 24-48 hour wait on all adoptions to give us a chance to review your application and give you a chance to think about the commitment of owning a pet. (Some waits may be longer.) Once approved, an appointment will be made for meet and greets.

Adopted pets may not be given as gifts, outside of the household. Adoption fee for dogs = $200 cash/check *Licensing fee may also apply. Adoption fee for cats = $100 cash/check
ALL pets come vaccinated, altered (spay/neuter), microchipped, defleaed/dewormed. Our cat wing may be visited during open Shelter hours, normally 12-4pm Mon.-Fri. We DO NOT have a walk through dog kennel due to public safety reasons. Adoptable dogs will be brought out to meet you with application approval and upon appointment time. The Shelter is closed on holidays and weekends. Appointments for those with approved applications may be specially made on weekends. Please direct any questions regarding applications to the staff by calling the shelter. We do not have access to applications from our page. Thanks! Asher reached Super Hero status today as he donated blood to help potentially save another dogs life during surgery! Occasionally, we will get calls from our local vets looking for a blood donor and our animals do their duty when possible for their community! Asher stepped up today and believe us when we say he was THEE GOODEST boy! So patient and even tempered, with one of his trusted friends holding him telling him so! Blood is siphoned from the jugular vein, so it's a little awkward. Asher deserved icecream for his efforts, which he snubbed!! He's a cheese man though, so the Kraft singles were hoarked down instead. 🤣 This amazing, gentle, sweet natured, SUPER boy STILL doesn't have an approved home. Come on people....you are MISSING out on a best friend for life. Please don't let Asher waste away here at the shelter when he could be bringing SO much love, light, and fun to your household!! Just look at his red cape! Super Hero.

This sweet girl may not be able to fly, but she's just as lovable as the Night Fury we all know and adore. Toothless is curious, playful, and always ready to see what adventure the day brings. Once she gets to know you, she'll be right by your side like a loyal best friend.

Toothless would prefer to be the only pet in her kingdom—she isn't a fan of other cats or dogs and would love a home where she can have all of your attention to herself. After all, every dragon deserves to rule her own castle!
