The Oshkosh Area Humane Society is a registered 501c(3) organization that helps over 2,200 animals every year in the Oshkosh area. In addition to pet adoption, OAHS also provides lost and found services, behavioral counseling, low-cost spay/neuter and much more. In accordance with the Life Saving Mission, all animals receive the medical care they need and all healthy/treatable animals get the opportunity to find a loving home with no time restrictions. The Mission of the Oshkosh Area Humane Society: To provide compassionate care and comfort to animals in need and to build a community that promotes humane treatment of all animals.

Is your boy guinea pig looking for a roommate, a cuddle buddy, or a partner in crime? Well, have we got a guy for him! Meet Sheldon!

This super sweet 4-year-old gentleman recently lost his beloved piggy pal, and he's ready to turn the page and find a new best friend. He's feeling a little lonely without his buddy, and we'd love to help him find another piggy to share life's little joys with!

🐾 S.O.S. – Foster home needed for one sweet mama and 5 tiny babies 🐾

Sometimes, the very best thing we can do for a little family like this is find them a quiet, loving place to grow. ❤️

Meet Winnie and her five precious puppies: Sugarplum, Klaus, Juniper, Gabriel and Figgy!

Winnie is just 1.5 years old, and her babies are only 4 weeks old — still tiny, still growing, and needing all the love, care and comfort a safe home can provide.

We are looking for a special foster family willing to open their heart and home to this little family while the puppies continue to grow and prepare for the next chapter of their lives. A calm, cozy space where Winnie can feel safe and her babies can thrive would mean the world to them.

Fostering is such a beautiful way to make a difference: all it takes is a spare room, a little patience, lots of love, and a willingness to help a mama dog give her babies the best possible start. We provide all the supplies!

Happy National Veterinary Technician Week! 🐾

Today, we’re giving a huge shoutout to Tawana, Maya, and Sarah for all they do for the animals at OAHS!

Tawana serves as our Medical and Community Outreach Coordinator, Maya is our Veterinary Assistant, and Sarah is our Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT).

They, along with Dr. Laura, our Veterinarian, make up our amazing medical team, and they work tirelessly together every day to ensure the pets in our care are happy, healthy and well cared for.

Their work doesn’t always happen in the spotlight, but it is an absolutely essential part of our mission ❤️

Tawana, Maya, and Sarah — thank you for your dedication, your kindness, and the love you show our animals, especially those who need it most. We are so grateful to have you on our team, and our animals are lucky to have you in their corner!

Today is the 8th annual National Make A Dog’s Day, a special day created by Subaru to encourage all dog lovers to do something special for their dogs!

We are honoring our doggo friends here at OAHS by giving them a special treat – like Hoagie and Big Mac, who got to play with dog bubbles and bob for apple slices!

We try to spoil our doggie residents as much as we can with limited resources. Our go-to items to brighten their day are usually Pup-peroni treats, Brutus Bone Broth, and canned peas, carrots and pumpkin.

But we also like to mix it up with interactive toys like ball pits, scent training kits, lick mats, chew and snuffle toys and more.

These items break up the day, provide mental stimulation and encourage natural behaviors, making a BIG difference in helping our dogs stay happy, engaged, and mentally stimulated.

New to the floor - meet Bramble, an adorable little low rider who is super loving and affectionate!

🥰He is a sweet little guy. He loves attention and spending time with people.

🧸 He loves plush squeaky toys!

🌿 A Curious Explorer - he enjoyed walking through the garden, stopping to check out all the sniffs along the way. He is curious about the world around him!

🌳 He's not a high-energy guy, but he does enjoy staying busy with toys and exploring. He can tire quickly, so he appreciates short breaks between. he doesn't pull much on the leash, either!

Sometimes, all a cat needs is someone who believes in him 💙

Remember Kylo? This sweet boy struggled with stress during his time at the shelter. Despite the love and care he received, shelter life was hard on him, and we knew he needed something special: a chance to decompress, feel safe, and finally be himself.

And then, along came an amazing adopter who saw something special in Kylo and decided to give him that chance.

The update we received from his new family says it all:

"It’s really a night and day difference in just the first few minutes. I really cannot believe how much he has changed in such a short amount of time. Kylo is the sweetest cat ever!"

Our hearts could burst!

In just a short time, Kylo is already showing his family the cat we knew was in there all along. Sometimes, the shelter environment can be overwhelming for cats, and it takes getting into a quiet, loving home for their true personalities to shine. Kylo just needed someone to give him that opportunity.

His adopter also thanked our team for holding on to him and giving him the time he needed. That means more to us than words can say. We know not every cat blossoms in a shelter, and we are so grateful when someone is willing to look beyond the stress and see the loving soul underneath.

Kylo's story is a beautiful reminder that the cat you meet in a shelter isn't always the cat you'll meet at home. Sometimes, the ones who struggle the most just need someone willing to give them a chance.

To Kylo's adopter, THANK YOU for seeing him, believing in him, and giving him the forever home he deserved. We cannot wait to see all the pictures and updates as he continues to settle in!

And to Kylo: You made it, buddy. You're home. You can finally relax, feel safe, and be loved for the rest of your life. And that is what it's all about.
