We couldn't resist trying one of the oldest horse-world traditions today with Bleu
For anyone who hasn't seen this done: you pull a single strand of hair from the mare's mane, tie it around a plain iron nail, and hold it suspended completely still over her back or belly.
According to the old-timers:
Steady circle = It's a FILLY
Back-and-forth line = It's a C**T
We kept our hands as steady as humanly possible, held our breath, and watched...
Drumroll please...
It immediately started swinging back and forth in a crisp, straight line!
According to the old barn magic, IT'S A C**T! 💙
Whether you believe in the tradition or just think it's a fun way to pass the time during the foaling wait, we had so much fun trying it out.
What do you think—are you Team C**t 💙 or Team Filly 💗? If you've tried the hair-and-nail test on your own mares, did it turn out to be right? Drop your guesses and experiences below! 👇👇
