Olaf has been doing great at the sanctuary. He LOVES spending his days meeting new friends and zooming around the backyard. He has recently been working on his leash manners and continuing to master his basic obedience, including not jumping up on new people and being mouthy during playtime.

Olaf would make a great addition to any family!

Muffin (6yr Male Orange/White) and Buffy (2.5yr Female Grey) are now looking for their forever home together! They are the cutest bonded duo💕

For those of you who don’t know, we worked on trapping 20 feral kitties late 2024. It was our biggest rescue mission to date. Most of those cats got adopted out into barn homes. Muffin and Buffy are the last of that crew! They have been in our care for about a year and a half now. Muffin was battling a lot of health issues, which kept delaying his adoption.

These two were the most feral of the crew and definitely gave us a run for our money (and a few battle scars along the way). A year later, and you would never be able to tell these are the same cats. To their trusted people- they are now beyond friendly, love attention, love cuddles and are such joys to be around! With *most* of their feral ways behind them, they are no longer eligible for our barn cat program and instead are looking for an indoor only home.

With this being said, they still do not enjoy meeting new people. They are looking for patient, experienced adopters who are willing to give them lots of time to decompress. Sometimes, the best relationships are the ones you have to work for a little bit! Once warmed up, their true personalities shine and they make wonderful companions ❤️

Frustrated is the best way to describe how we are currently feeling.

After not even 48hrs, Gem has been returned to our care. We are blatantly honest when adopting out any animal, and Gem was no exception. We never want to send an animal home to a family who is not comfortable or capable working with certain issues. This does no good to the family, us, or the animal when they eventually get returned all confused on what they did wrong.

The family stated although she was great with the kids, cats and dog siblings, they were not equipped to handle her certain tendencies. Gem does bark- she is half Husky and half German Shepherd after all. She barks when people are walking by her home, when visitors enter the home and when she hears something. For anyone that has a Shepherd especially, this is no surprise.

From what we were told, they thought the barking wasn’t going to be an issue. However, they forgot to take into account a family member who visits frequently with vertigo. Gem’s barking set off a bad episode during her arrival. Although we have sympathy for the situation, we really wish this was thought about prior to adoption for Gem’s sake.

We are devastated for her and will continue to hunt for her perfect FOREVER home. She does not deserve to be failed by humans once again. Until then, her rescue siblings are thrilled to have her back.

As a rescue, we do our due diligence to ensure an adoptive family is a good fit. However, at the end of the day it is still just as important for them to do the same. Additionally, 48hrs is nowhere near enough time for an animal to set into a new routine regardless. Please remember this when considering adoption. Animals should be a lifelong commitment.

Today was a great day for one of our very deserving pups! Gem the beautiful husky/shepherd was adopted into a lovely home and now has both human & doggy sisters. We could not have asked for a better fit!

Gem has been through hell the past year and has overcome so much. Last year, we picked Gem up from animal control on the brink of death. The people who she looked to for love and care put her through terrible abuse instead. She fought hard, but bouncing back did not happen overnight.

She endured a hard week at the emergency vet and around the clock tube feeding and blood transfusions. After she was more stable, she came home- although she was still very frail at 25lbs. She went through months of severe rehabilitation, both physically and emotionally. We had long nights- waking up every 3 hours to feed her small amounts of food and to reassure her that we would get through this together. She was a trooper during her weekly vet check-ins and it was incredible watching the spark come back into her eyes as her health slowly improved.

A year later, and you would never be able to tell what she has been through. She is still such a sweet, goofy and loving girl. Her resilience is incredible and inspiring. A happily ever after is just what she needed and although it’s bittersweet, we are beyond happy for her! ❤️

Recent vet visits-

🐱Muffin (6yr Orange/White) went in for vaccine updates as well as a recheck for his reoccurring eye issues. Unfortunately, this boy has not been able to catch a break since coming into our care a year ago. We are continuing to closely monitor him and will be taking him to a eye specialist if issues persist. We are hoping he is adoption ready soon!

🐱Snowflake (3.5yr Snowshoe) went in for her final vaccines and is almost healed from her spay. She will be ready for adoption very soon and will most likely be staying in our rescue family.

🐱Buffy (3yr Grey) went in for vaccine boosters. She is a semi-feral lady who has made great strides in the past few months. She is definitely making progress to become a nice household companion!

🐱Puddle (10yr Grey) went in for vaccine boosters and a senior wellness exam. During the exam, we found a few concerning things that we are running further tests on. We are currently testing her thyroid and heart function, as her heart wasn’t sounding great upon exam. We are unsure whether it was due to the stress of the vet visit or a health condition. We are looking forward for the test results to come in next week!
