Before you see the doctor, before your pet gets a treat, and before the exam even starts, there’s a voice on the other end of the phone.

Our veterinary receptionists are schedulers, problem solvers, comfort givers, translators, and the calm in the chaos.

This week we celebrate the incredible team members who answer every call with patience, compassion, and care. 💛

If a member of our front desk team has ever helped you, drop them a thank you below. We can’t do what we do without them. 🐾

Paw injuries are common, but quick first aid helps your furry friend feel better fast! 🐾

Clean the cut, apply gentle pressure with gauze, and keep your pet calm. Contact your veterinarian if bleeding doesn’t stop or if you notice swelling or limping.

Overgrown claws can change the way your pet stands and walks, altering their natural gait. This places extra pressure on the toes, joints, tendons and spine, which over time can contribute to joint pain, arthritis and reduced mobility.

Long claws may also cause slipping on smooth surfaces, painful nail splits, or claws growing into the paw pads — all of which can be uncomfortable and easily avoided with regular trims.

Just like us, routine nail care helps support proper posture, balanced movement and long-term joint health, keeping your pet comfortable and confident on their feet at every stage of life.

Canine Fitness Platforms: Measuring Guide

Stable platforms are the MOST IMPORTANT props used in canine fitness exercises. But in order for them to be EFFECTIVE as a training aid, and ensure proper muscle recruitment, the sizing has to be just right!

↔️ If the platform is TOO WIDE it allows for sloppy ex*****on and poor form, contributing to muscle imbalances along the medial aspect of the shoulder and hip.

➡️⬅️If the platform is TOO SHORT it forces the dog into poor spine alignment weakening the back muscles, and increasing the risk of injury long term.

↕️ If the platform is TOO TALL it can create a demand that is to challenging (bad dog training) and can result in a rolling risk. It would be a shame to hurt your dog while you were trying to do something to benefit them.

--

So to find the "Goldilocks" platform side we need two important measurements
INITIAL WIDTH
INITIAL LENGTH

With these two measurements we can calculate your pup's perfect width, length, and height for all platforms!

As you think about New Year’s resolutions for yourself, don’t forget about your pet. Extra weight can put pets at risk for diabetes, skin infections, urinary tract issues, orthopedic injuries, and chronic back pain.

The good news? Small changes can make a big difference. Increase daily exercise with walks or interactive play like laser time for cats, choose low-calorie treats, and keep portions measured. Dogs can enjoy healthier treat options such as carrots, apples, green beans, or plain Cheerios (never grapes). Talk with your veterinarian about the right calorie intake and consider switching to a lower-calorie food so your pet can still enjoy the same amount with fewer calories. If portion reduction is needed, cut back gradually, no more than 20% per week, to help your pet adjust comfortably. 💙

Not all road salt is pet-safe! During winter walks, keep an eye out for treated sidewalks and roads. Some de-icers can irritate your dog’s paws or even make them sick if licked. Wipe their paws after each walk and consider using booties or paw balm for extra protection. ❄️
