3 months old and already mastering "Leave It!" 👏🐾

Our youngest puppy is only 3 months old and has already learned one of the most valuable commands you can teach a dog: Leave It.

Puppies explore the world with their noses, and that curiosity can quickly get them into trouble. Teaching "Leave It" helps keep them safe by preventing them from picking up things they shouldn't, whether it's food on the ground, trash or something dangerous.

Training isn't just about obedience—it's about building good habits that last a lifetime.

Rubo's second lesson was a huge step forward! 🐾
During our first lesson, Rubo could barely get near me. He spent most of the time barking and letting me know he wasn't sure about having a stranger around.
By the second lesson, he was feeling brave enough to get closer—but he was still struggling to relax. He spent much of the lesson mouthing the hands and trying to leave the training area. To help him stay focused and set him up for success, we worked on leash in the backyard.
Then, about 5 minutes before the lesson ended, everything changed. Rubo finally relaxed enough to start learning, and he showed me just how smart he is. In those final minutes, he quickly picked up "sit," "down," and "look."
This is a great reminder that training isn't always about teaching commands right away. Sometimes the first goal is helping a dog feel safe, comfortable, and confident enough to learn. Once Rubo got there, he was ready to work!
I'm excited to see what this handsome boy accomplishes in future lessons. 🐕✨

🐕‍🦺Training Tip Thursday🐕

In this training session, we used a leash wrap technique to give better guidance and help encourage loose-leash walking. It's not a substitute for training, but it can be a useful tool when used correctly.

Remember: tools don't teach the behavior—consistent training, patience, and clear communication do. 🐕✨

If the asphalt is too hot for your hand, it's too hot for your dog's paws. Elsa wears her shoes so she can stay safe and comfortable. 🐾☀️

When my leg starts shaking from nerves, Elsa knows exactly what to do. 🐾
She places her paws on my leg to help ground me and interrupt the behavior. Just one of the many tasks she performs as my service dog.
Good girl, Elsa. ❤️
