🎉🐾 Happy International Sheltie Day! 🐾🎉

Today we're celebrating one very special Sheltie...
Callie, our Christmas miracle. ❤️✨

Nearly six months ago, we were told Callie likely wouldn't make it beyond a couple of months. Diagnosed with intestinal cancer and placed on hospice care, our goal was simply to love her for whatever time she had left.

But Callie had other plans. 🥹

Today she's still doing her slow Sheltie spin. 🌀

Still running through the yard. 🌿

Still digging little holes. 😂

Still wiggling her way into everyone's heart. ❤️

And in an incredible turn of events, one of the cancerous areas that had been attached to her bladder has completely disappeared. 🎉🙏

The remaining intestinal tumor has remained stable and has not grown. ( she is not a candidate for surgery)

She is comfortable, happy, loved beyond measure, and living the life she always deserved.

✨ This International Sheltie Day, let's continue helping make Callie's miracle possible. ✨

Last week's bloodwork and imaging totaled $850, and her specialized diet includes sardines, beef liver, beef heart, beef tallow, ground lamb, and a carefully selected fish-based food developed with input from both her veterinary team and Chewy's nutrition specialists. ❤️🐾

Whether you donate toward veterinary care, send support supplies, share her story, or simply cheer her on, you become part of the village helping this little girl continue to thrive.

Because miracles don't happen alone.❤️‍🩹❤️‍🔥♥️💝

They happen when compassionate people come together and decide a dog like Callie is worth fighting for. ❤️

And judging by that sweet face and those beautiful brown eyes... we'd say she's worth every bit of it. 🥹🐾❤️

Happy International Sheltie Day from Callie, our Christmas miracle. 🎄❤️🐾**

🥹❤️ River emaciated Rough Collie ❤️The moment a forgotten dog realizes kindness might finally be real. ✨️Update from his medical foster Intake weight 30lbs 💔 now up to 33lbs ❤️‍🩹

Every day he learns a little more about house manners, comfort, safety, and what it means to simply be a dog. He has officially chosen me as his person for now, and watching that trust grow has been incredibly special.

The other day he got so excited about getting sardines that he launched himself onto my kitchen table and straight into my arms before I even knew what was happening. 😂😅🤣 I was sitting down and all I could do was catch him. Honestly, I couldn't even be mad. It was pure joy. Pure excitement. Pure trust.❤️‍🔥

Watching him run, play, and discover comfort has been beautiful and heartbreaking all at once. You can see the puppy still inside him finally getting the chance to come out. And it hurts my heart knowing he's several years old and only now experiencing things that should have always been normal... comfy chairs, affection, routines, yummy treats, soft voices, and safety. 🥹

What many people don't see beneath all that fluff and cuteness is that River arrived weighing just 30 pounds. An adult male Rough Collie should weigh nearly twice that. Underneath the coat was a dog who was literally skin and bone.

River spent years living in filth. Despite multiple baths, he still carries a lingering odor. When a dog has spent the better part of three years sleeping, eating, and existing in f***s, that doesn't simply wash away with one bath, or even several. It takes weeks and weeks and weeks of proper nutrition, clean living conditions, healthy skin turnover, and repeated grooming for their body and coat to fully recover. His past neglect is still literally working its way out of his system.😢

Next week River has both a veterinary appointment and a professional deep-clean grooming appointment. The grooming alone is expected to cost about $150, and we will also be repeating blood work to ensure his liver values and other organ functions remain healthy as his body continues recovering from prolonged starvation and neglect.

Recovery isn't just about putting weight back on. It's about making sure the damage caused by years of deprivation isn't silently affecting him on the inside.

The good news is that every day River is stronger. Every day he trusts a little more. Every day he learns that kindness is real.

🎉🏡 Congratulations, Daisy! 🏡🎉
What a beautiful new beginning for a very special girl. ❤️

Daisy came to rescue when her previous owner realized they were unable to give her the life and guidance she needed. That decision was made out of love, and because of that love, Daisy's journey led her exactly where she was meant to be.

With the support of our volunteers, the dedication of rescue, and the kindness of a wonderful foster home, Daisy has now found her forever family. A home filled with love, patience, guidance, and all the things every dog deserves. 🐾❤️

We are so proud of you, sweet Daisy. Go enjoy your new life, your new adventures, and all the love that has been waiting for you. 🌸🐶

Meet Annie! 🐾 Foster-to-Adopt | Hampton Roads, VA . officially❤️‍🔥adopt special for 757 adopter $385.00 Virginia Beach.

4-Year-Old Old English Sheepdog | 67 lbs | Loyal, Loving, and Looking for Her People 💖

Annie is a 67-lb Old English Sheepdog with a heart as big as her fluff! 🌟 She’s affectionate, emotionally attuned, playful, intelligent, and deeply people-oriented. This breed was developed to work closely alongside humans, and Annie absolutely lives up to that reputation—she is a true companion dog. She wants to be where her people are, involved in everyday life, and included as part of the family. 💕

She’s the kind of dog who follows you from room to room, sleeps beside your bed on a cushy dog bed, gives gentle nose kisses, and happily lounges nearby while you go about your day. Annie loves affection, enjoys learning, and thrives on connection and companionship. 🐾

She is house-trained, crate-trained, and settles beautifully in the home when her physical and emotional needs are met. With daily walks, yard play, enrichment toys, scent work, chew toys, and quality time with her people, Annie is a wonderful companion. 🌳🥾

Annie also has a natural protective streak toward her people and home. Like many guardian-oriented herding breeds, she takes her role seriously and will bark if someone approaches the home, yard, or vehicle. Once properly introduced, however, Annie is friendly and social. She is not showing aggression—she simply wants to make sure her “flock” is safe before relaxing. 🐑💙

Annie’s Ideal Home Has:

✅ Homeownership required 🏡

✅ A securely fenced yard with at least 450 square feet of usable grassy space → Must be a solid privacy fence no less than 5 ft tall. Tiny patio-style yards, concrete-only outdoor spaces, or minimal grass areas are not suitable for Annie.

✅ A remote worker, stay-at-home adult, retired active adult, or highly present household → Annie does not do well being left alone for long periods. She truly thrives with companionship. 🧑‍💻

✅ If the adults work outside of the home, Annie must have a young, active dog companion close to her own size for companionship and play → Small dogs are not appropriate companions for her. 🐕

✅ Older children or no children preferred → Annie is very gentle, but she is also large, strong, and bouncy when excited. 👧

✅ No cats, chickens, livestock, or prey animals 🐓

✅ An active lifestyle → Annie enjoys walks, outdoor time, play sessions, and being included in family activities. 🌲

✅ Physically capable adult handlers → Annie is extremely strong on leash and still needs continued leash work. She is not appropriate for homes where someone has mobility limitations, balance concerns, pending surgeries, or medical conditions affecting strength in the hands, arms, legs, or back. 💪

Not a Fit For:

❌ Sedentary households 🛋️

❌ Homes with only elderly or small dogs 🐩

❌ Families with very young children 👶

❌ Households where Annie would spend most of the day alone 🚪

Active and Attuned:

Annie is happiest with people who genuinely enjoy spending time with their dog. 🌲 She bonds deeply, loves routine and togetherness, and would make an incredible emotional support companion for the right person. She wants connection, closeness, structure, and shared experiences—not isolation.
Where & How to Apply:

We are seeking a home in Hampton Roads, VA, but will consider approved adopters within a 6-hour drive of Virginia Beach. 🚗 We will also consider direct referrals from New England Old English Sheepdog Rescue.

All adopters must travel to meet her. No transports.

Apply now at:

Annie is goofy, loyal, affectionate, and ready for a forever home that doesn’t just love dogs—they truly enjoy living life with them. 🐾💙

Meet Minnie —4 yr old 6.5 Pounds of Sass, Spark, Sp*ed, and Snuggles 🌶️💕
Fostered in Virginia Beach, VA

Minnie is a tiny little 6.5-pound Yorkie/Silky mix with a HUGE personality packed into a petite frame. She is hilarious, affectionate, nosy, bossy, energetic, and completely devoted to her people. She’s the kind of dog who wants to be involved in everything you do — cooking, laundry, bathroom breaks, naps… all of it. 😅

She is not a “sit quietly in the corner” kind of dog. Minnie is busy. She’s opinionated. She’s clever. She’s a tiny little napoleon full of love and confidence.

Despite all that spice, Minnie is actually an incredibly loving and tender little dog. She bonds deeply with her people and thrives on affection and closeness.

Because of that, Minnie has very specific placement needs. We have had several failed placement attempts simply because people underestimated how much management, consistency, structure, and supervision a tiny brilliant dog like Minnie truly requires. At this point, we are no longer looking for “maybe.” We are waiting for the right person to read this and say:

“Oh my goodness… I already have tiny dog beds everywhere, I absolutely would buy her outfits, and adding another fluffy pink bed to my house sounds completely reasonable.” 💅🐾✨

Her foster dad even suggested putting a little bed in the bathroom because Minnie truly believes no one should ever have to p*e alone. 😂

⚠️ Minnie MUST have:

✅ Homeowners only — absolutely no renters
✅ A stable long-term living situation with consistency and routine
✅ A securely fenced yard with REAL grass space to run and play
✅ NO concrete-only backyards or “concrete jungle” patios
✅ NO pools
✅ NO waterfront homes
✅ NO large ponds or water features over approximately 500 gallons
✅ NO bird-of-prey risk areas
✅ NO birds or pet birds of any kind — not even small birds like canaries
✅ NO cats
✅ NO doggie doors
✅ NO apartments or leash-only potty situations
✅ A permanently installed second barrier between her and the front door (baby gate, foyer, mudroom, double-door exit, etc.)
✅ Someone home most of the time — retired, stay-at-home, or work-from-home preferred
✅ A younger playful dog companion under 12 lbs who enjoys rough-and-tumble play
✅ No large dogs whatsoever
✅ Children 10+ only
✅ Pets allowed on furniture and bed
✅ A family willing to safely manage her environment for life
✅ Adoption location within 2 hours of Virginia Beach, VA
✅ A neat, organized home with clean counters and surfaces

Minnie does NOT want to be an only dog. She thrives with another tiny playful dog her size that enjoys wrestling, zoomies, and active play. Another confident Yorkie-type companion would be ideal. The size limit is critical because larger dogs — even sweet ones — can accidentally injure her during play.

She is also absolutely NOT safe around birds or cats. Minnie has a very strong prey drive despite her tiny size. We will not place her in a home with pet birds of any kind because eventually there will be an accident and heartbreak for everyone involved.

Minnie actually genuinely likes people and has met countless strangers successfully. She is affectionate, social, and loving with adults and older children alike. The age requirement is NOT because she dislikes children — it’s because Minnie is tiny, wiggly, and constantly in motion. A younger child accidentally dropping her or carrying her improperly could easily result in a serious leg injury.

She also has one hilariously specific quirk: if someone is carrying a large box or object high enough that she cannot see their face… the tiny velociraptor emerges until the object goes away. 😂 Once she can clearly see the person again, she settles right back down. It’s less “aggression” and more “tiny security officer deeply suspicious of floating cardboard.”

Minnie is incredibly fast and will dart doors if given the opportunity. Her adopter must understand management and prevention. She cannot safely go to a home where people are constantly coming and going without precautions in place.

And when we say she is resourceful… we mean RESOURCEFUL. 😅
Minnie can climb, launch herself, move objects, and problem solve like a furry little velociraptor. Short baby gates are not enough for her. If she can move a chair, basket, ottoman, or object close enough to assist herself over a barrier, she absolutely will.

She has also made it very clear that she does NOT tolerate crating. This is not mild whining. Minnie screams and cries loudly enough to be heard multiple houses away and becomes extremely distressed. Crating is simply not an appropriate management tool for her.

Because of this, Minnie needs a family that naturally keeps a tidy, organized home — the kind of people whose counters stay clean and who don’t leave food, medications, or random objects sitting out on tables or bathroom counters. Think “beautifully organized but delightfully dog-friendly” — dog beds, blankets, toy baskets everywhere are perfectly fine. 💕

She wants closeness and companionship and prefers sleeping with her people or on a raised bed nearby. This girl thrives when she feels included and connected.

🍽️ Minnie is also maintained on very high-end nutrition to keep her healthy, fit, and feeling her best. Her little waistline stays trim thanks to premium quality food and careful management — this girl absolutely lives the boutique dog lifestyle.

💡 Important Placement Note:
Minnie is healthy and young and could live another 15+ years. She is not suitable as a “grandma companion dog” or for someone with declining health. She needs an active, committed forever home capable of safely managing her needs long-term.

If you’re looking for a quiet lap dog who sleeps all day, Minnie is not your girl.

But if you want a tiny best friend with endless personality, comedy, affection, outfits, toy baskets, fluffy beds, loyalty, and spice… Minnie may be absolutely perfect. ❤️
If you got all the way through that God bless you please message us.

Maya and Storm have found a loving home together ❤️❤️

This wonderful couple previously adopted a very special little Sheltie from us years ago. She was a true diva who insisted on being the only child 😅 and she was deeply, deeply loved. After losing her, her parents chose to honor her memory by opening their hearts again… this time to TWO wonderful girls.

We could not be happier for Maya and Storm as they begin this beautiful new chapter together 🥹✨

We also have several wonderful dogs currently available for adoption, with more becoming available soon 🐶💕

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly by Messenger if you are interested in adopting. We will get back to messages on Tuesday. 💌

Please welcome River 🚨 Donations Needed for River’s Intake & Medical Care 🚨Today was River’s freedom ride. 💙

This beautiful blue merle rough collie was found running wild and free, severely underweight at only 30 pounds. For an adult male collie, that is dangerously thin and points to long-term malnourishment and neglect. We're going to need to do special groceries for him to help build out not only muscle because he doesn't have any. High protein such as sardines on our Amazon wish list would be very welcome. We also do fresh farm eggs so if you want to send venmo money or you are in Virginia Beach and you would like to donate some fresh farm eggs for him that would be great.

River is safe tonight, but the road ahead is going to take time, medical support, patience, and rehabilitation.

Right now we are raising funds for:
🐾 Intake costs
🐾 Bloodwork and diagnostics
🐾 Treatment for the skin condition on his face
🐾 Nutritional rehabilitation
🐾 Grooming and comfort supplies
🐾 Follow-up veterinary care

Beyond his physical condition, River is also showing emotional signs of long-term neglect. He spins in circles repeatedly, displaying behaviors often associated with learned helplessness and prolonged confinement. We suspect he may have come from a hoarding or heavy kennel situation due to heavy yellow staining on his fur and his intake condition. He appears to have very little understanding of normal home life and basic routines.

And yet… he is still sweet. Still gentle. Still kind. Because that’s who collies are. 🥺💙

A wonderful shelter volunteer helped clean him up initially, and today he headed to the groomer to begin his fresh start.

✨ River is SAFE
✨ River is finally being seen
✨ River’s healing journey starts now

❤️‍🔥A very special thank you to the shelter staff and transport volunteers who helped give River his freedom ride today.

Because of you, a dog that knew fear, neglect, and uncertainty is sleeping in safety tonight. You were the bridge between survival and hope. The hands that opened the kennel door. The voices that spoke gently to him when the world had not been kind.

🐝🌼 Happy International Bee Day 🌼🐝

Today we celebrate the tiny pollinators that help keep our world blooming and beautiful. Bees play a huge role in our gardens, flowers, fruits, and the natural spaces our dogs love to explore. 💛🐾

A quick spring and summer reminder for pet owners:
If your dog gets stung by a bee, remove the stinger if visible, apply a cool compress, and monitor closely for swelling or allergic reactions such as vomiting, trouble breathing, or excessive lethargy. Stings around the face or mouth should always be taken seriously and may require immediate veterinary attention.

Protect the bees. Love the dogs. Enjoy the sunshine. 🌸🐶🐝

Winnie The power of love is a pretty amazing thing. 🐾💙

Not long ago Winnie was out there alone. Scared. Neglected. Fending for herself and unsure of the world around her. A little blue merle Heeler discarded and left to survive however she could.

Now after only a few short days in foster care, this sweet girl is already starting to look to her foster family for comfort and support. She follows them with her eyes. Sleeps near them. Accepts gentle affection. Slowly but surely learning that humans can be safe.

And after a fantastic bath… apparently Winnie has changed colors. 😅

She is no longer “mostly road grime black.” Under all that dirt was a stunning silver blue merle coat with adorable spotted markings in her tail that we didn’t even know existed. She is absolutely beautiful.

But rescue takes a village and theand the reality is that dogs like Winnie require a tremendous amount of support in those first weeks.

New collars and leashes
Flea treatment
Deworming
Vet visits
Special shampoos and supplies
Cleaning products for house training accidents
Laundry
Food
Gas for transport
And most importantly time, patience, and love

Winnie is truly learning what it means to live inside a home and be cared for. She’s liking it… but it’s a big adjustment for a dog who has had to survive on her own.

If you would like to help support Winnie’s journey, donations are deeply appreciated and truly make a difference for dogs like her. Every dollar helps us continue saying yes to dogs who need a chance. ❤️

Thank you to everyone rooting for this sweet girl already.
