🚨🐾 Hurricane Preparedness for You & Your Furry Family Members 🐾🚨

Living in Florida, we all know how hurricane season can quickly sneak up on us, and with a storm expected this week, now is the time to make sure you’re fully prepared—both for yourself and your furry family members. At Ormond Beach Dog Boarding, we care deeply about keeping you and your pet safe, so we’ve put together this list of essential steps to help you stay ready and calm during the storm. Together, we can tackle anything that comes our way! 🐶❤️

1. Emergency kit 🧳: Pack essentials like food, water, medications, bandaids, batteries and ID for both you and your dog. Don’t forget comfort items like toys and blankets to help keep your pet calm during the storm.

2. Pet-safe shelter 🏠: Research pet-friendly hotels or shelters in your area and confirm their policies ahead of time. Note, we may have limited availability during these times as we may need to evacuate as well.

3. ID and microchip 🏷️: Ensure your dog’s tags and microchip are updated in case you’re separated.

4. Evacuation plan 🚗: Have a route planned and your dog’s crate or carrier ready. Practice getting your pet safely secured in case of a quick evacuation.

5. Stay informed 📻: Keep an eye on weather updates and evacuation notices, so you’re ready to act quickly. A battery operated radio is a good idea!

6. Fill up ⛽: Keep your car’s gas tank full and have cash, non-perishable food, and water on hand.

7. Plan for refrigerated needs: If you or your dog’s food or medications require refrigeration, have a cooler and ice packs ready. A generator if possible! Power outages are very likely.
