And the way we began challenging

status quo back in 2003, was to give our dogs the freedom of space. These included the freedom to learn, the freedom to express themselves as normal, freedom to be in nature, freedom to think, do, bark...

Sweet Yawkey… ❤️

Our old man with the sweetest face and a way of making people fall in love with him almost immediately.

We may not have had the privilege of knowing Yawkey for very long, but it didn’t take long to see just how special he was. He was patient, gentle, incredibly sweet, and truly one of the cutest old men.

And goodness, was he loved.

In such a short amount of time, Yawkey became loved by so many people here at Doglando. There was just something about him. The kind of dog you wanted to sit beside a little longer, love on a little extra, and soak up every moment you were given with him.

Our hearts are with Robin and everyone who loved Yawkey throughout his life. Thank you for allowing us to know him, even if our chapter with him was far too short.

Rest easy, sweet old man ❤️

You didn’t need years with us to leave your mark. You just needed to be Yawkey.

Sweet Lara. 🤍 Your beautiful husky self.

Sweet, sassy, and always so very quiet. You had a presence that never needed to be loud to be remembered. You were simply Lara, and that was more than enough to leave your mark on all of us.

It had been years since you were with us at Doglando, but time has a funny way of making some memories feel like they happened yesterday. We missed seeing you, Yuri, and your family walk through our doors. And even as the years passed, the dogs who once filled our days here have never stopped being part of our story.

Our hearts broke when we heard that you had passed.

We remember the dogs who have come through Doglando not just for what they did here, but for who they were. Their quirks. Their personalities. The way they communicated. The little things that made us smile and the ways they taught us something without ever saying a word.

Lara, you were one of those dogs.

We hope your family knows that a little piece of you still lives here in the memories you left behind. Thank you for allowing us to know you, care for you, and have a small chapter in the beautiful life you lived.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED 🐾

There is a lot that happens between a dog coming into our care and the day they move on to what’s next.

There are meals. Clean spaces. Walks. New experiences. Quiet moments. Learning. Trust. And a whole lot of consistency in between.

That’s where our volunteers come in.

Our volunteers aren’t just extra hands. They become part of the rhythm of each dog’s time with us.

That’s why our volunteer opportunities are built around fixed weekly shifts. It gives each person a time that is theirs to show up, learn the dogs, learn our way of doing things, and become a consistent part of their care.

You don’t have to come to us knowing everything. Come curious. Come ready to learn. Come ready to work. Come ready to be present.

Because there is purpose even in the smallest parts of this work.

Happy National Dog Day! 🐾❤️

Today we celebrate the dogs who fill our days with movement, curiosity, laughter, learning, and so much love.

At Doglando, we have the privilege of knowing dogs as individuals. We get to learn what makes each one light up, what makes them feel safe, what challenges them, what builds their confidence, and who they become when they are given the space to simply be a dog.

From the dogs who have been with us for years, to the ones just beginning their Doglando journey, to the dogs who have found their families through our Foundation, and even those who are no longer physically with us, each one leaves something behind. They teach us to observe more closely, listen differently, stay curious, play harder, and appreciate the little moments.

Dogs give us so much more than companionship. They invite us into their world.

Happy National Dog Day to every dog who has ever been a part of Doglando. Past, present, and those still to come. You are the reason we continue to learn, grow, and do what we do. 🐾
