Last week a grown woman cried in front of over a plush Pickle Pig. And it's not the first time...
Running a startup always has its up and downs and I'd be lying if I said there weren't any days that I felt like giving up. But then I have a day where I get to meet our customers and fans like this woman I met and I remember why I keep doing this.
I know I've created something special when I see people react so positively to our toys and our stories shows me that Fika and I are doing something good. Every story someone shares with me about their own mental health journey or how they've connected with a specific Freaky Friend is what keeps me going. Seeing the smiles on peoples' faces and yes, sometimes the tears makes it all worth while.
At this stage of our business, we are still working towards sustainable profitability. But the connections I make with Freaky Fans is what's most important. And I'm rich from that alone. It doesn't matter how much money we make right now so long as we are making a difference in people's lives.
