With heavy hearts we share that our clinic cat, Chip, was humanely euthanized today.
This decision was made with great love and compassion, putting Chip’s comfort and well-being first. While our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that Chip is now at peace and no longer suffering.
Chip brought joy, companionship, and countless cherished memories to everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his impact on our lives will never be forgotten.
Please keep all who loved Chip in your thoughts as we mourn this loss and celebrate the wonderful life he lived.

This handsome Golden Retriever may have been a little too curious when he decided to see if an electrical wire was part of a balanced diet… 😅🐶⚡ (Spoiler alert: it isn’t.)

The good news? Banks is doing great and is back to doing what Goldens do best—spreading smiles, soaking up attention, and hopefully leaving the power cords alone. 💛

❤️ One tiny mosquito bite can have lifelong consequences.

Heartworm disease is a serious, potentially life-threatening illness that affects both dogs and cats. The scary part? It only takes one infected mosquito to transmit heartworms, and mosquitoes are active year-round here in Florida.

The good news is that heartworm disease is far easier (and less expensive) to prevent than it is to treat. Monthly prevention helps protect your pet from a disease that can damage the heart, lungs, and blood vessels.

🐶 Dogs should be tested annually and stay on prevention year-round.
🐱 Cats need heartworm prevention too—even indoor cats are at risk since mosquitoes can easily make their way inside.

Loch Haven Veterinary Hospital will be closed tomorrow through the weekend in observance of the Fourth of July holiday. We will reopen Monday at 8:00 AM and look forward to seeing all of our amazing patients then!

If your pet experiences an emergency or needs immediate medical attention while we’re closed, please contact the Veterinary Emergency Clinic at 407-644-4449.

❤️ Wishing you, your family, and your furry friends a safe and happy Fourth of July! Remember to keep pets indoors during fireworks, make sure their ID tags are up to date, and have plenty of treats ready for post-firework cuddles. 🇺🇸🐶🐱
