There’s nothing more meaningful to us than knowing both our patients and their families feel supported every step of the way. Thank you for trusting us with your senior pup’s care. We believe every visit should feel personal, every question deserves time, and every treatment plan should feel clear and comfortable. Dr. Bolfer and our entire team are honored to walk alongside you—and we’re so grateful to be part of your dog’s journey.

Meet Oreo. Stage D.

Oreo was a challenging case, he was in congestive heart failure the day of surgery. But sometimes, the story doesn’t end where it’s expected to… it begins there. A call to Dr. Bolfer changed everything. From the day of surgery… to one month later… to three months out — Oreo’s journey is nothing short of incredible. Today, he’s not just stable… he’s running on the beach.

“Where there is hope, there is a path forward.”

A mother’s heart is different—and science actually proves it.

Studies show that the bond between a mother and her child (even the four-legged kind) can lower heart rate, reduce stress hormones, and release oxytocin—the “love hormone” that supports emotional and cardiovascular health. We see it every day in our clinic. The way a dog settles the moment their mom walks in. The way heart rates slow. The way fear fades. For our patients, mom isn’t just comfort…she’s part of their healing.

This Mother’s Day, we’re celebrating the hearts that care for every heartbeat. Happy Mother’s Day to all the incredible moms—human and pet moms alike.

Hi Sadie! We love you here at CFVC! Thanks for being our model 
Did you know this week is Dog Anxiety Awareness Week? Anxiety is something we see often and not just in behavior, but in the heart itself. When a dog is anxious, their body stays in a constant “fight or flight” state.

• Elevated heart rate
• Increased blood pressure
• Higher levels of stress hormones like cortisol

Over time, that constant strain can put added workload on the heart—especially in dogs who already have underlying cardiac disease.

We see it in subtle ways:

• The dog who pants at rest but isn’t in heart failure
• The one whose heart rate spikes at every visit
• The patient whose condition is stable… until stress tips the scale

Anxiety doesn’t cause every heart problem—but it can make heart disease harder to manage. If you’ve noticed signs of anxiety—pacing, panting, restlessness, changes in sleep or behavior—it’s worth a conversation with Dr. Bolfer or your primary care veterinarian.

For 13 years, Cocoa showed no signs of heart disease—until one moment changed everything.

What started as a terrifying collapse led to a diagnosis many pet owners never see coming. But her story didn’t end there—advanced care gave her a second chance and a remarkable recovery.

Big things are happening behind the scenes at CFVC!

As our interventional cardiology and surgical services continue to grow, so does our team—and the way we support our patients, clients, and referring veterinarians every step of the way.

We’re proud to announce Kalia’s new role as Interventional Cardiology and Surgery Coordinator. In this position, Kalia plays a key role in guiding cases from initial consultation through surgery and follow-up care, helping ensure a seamless experience across both cardiology and surgical services.

From coordinating procedures like V-Clamp, PDA, and balloon valvuloplasty to supporting communication, scheduling, and patient care continuity, Kalia is an essential part of making sure every case is handled with precision and compassion.

We’re excited for this next chapter—and even more excited for the continued growth of the care we’re able to provide.

Louie came in for his cardiology visit and made himself right at home.

Between diagnostics and careful monitoring, it’s moments like this that remind us veterinary cardiology is just as much about comfort and trust as it is about the heart itself.

Louie kept things light with a few extra snuggles during his visit, proving that even important appointments can feel a little easier with the right team.

Because great care goes beyond the heart. It’s about making every patient feel safe along the way.
