What we don’t talk about as pet care providers… the part where our hearts break too.
What many people don’t realize is that as pet care providers, we don’t just care for your pets… we become part of their extended family. Your pups become part of our lives too.
And sometimes that means experiencing loss right alongside you.
It’s been a year of loss for Pup Patrol, and a little over a week ago we had to say goodbye to sweet Maddie as she crossed the Rainbow Bridge. 🌈🐾
I knew staying with her sister again was going to be emotional, but what we sometimes forget is how deeply pets grieve too. The confusion… the searching… the anxiety… trying to understand why their lifelong companion isn’t there anymore.
It has been such an honor to be trusted with these two beautiful senior girls for the past five years. A true privilege. And now, sitting here comforting Maddie’s sister through her sadness, you can see the void that was left behind.
We love these pups like they’re our own. We celebrate them, we worry about them, and when the time comes… we grieve them too.
Maddie’s mom did everything possible to give her comfort as she aged, and when the time came, she gave her the greatest final gift of all… peace. The kindest, most selfless act of love a pet parent can give.
Run free over the Rainbow Bridge, sweet Maddie girl. You were so very loved and you will be so very missed. 🐾💔
