While we're busy helping pets when emergencies happen, we love seeing our patients out enjoying the sunshine, backyard adventures, and making memories with their families.

Just remember: warm weather can bring hidden dangers for our furry friends, including heat exhaustion, hot pavement, pool accidents, and BBQ temptations. Keep an eye on your pets and make sure they have plenty of shade, fresh water, and opportunities to cool off.

If your pet is experiencing an emergency, please call us immediately or come directly to the hospital for triage. Our team is here to help when your pet needs us most. 🩺🐶🐱

🚨🍫 CRIME CAUGHT ON CAMERA 🍫🚨

This Chocolate Lab thought she had committed the perfect crime after helping herself to 2 pounds of semi-sweet chocolate. Unfortunately for Zoey, the evidence was everywhere... including the home security cameras! 🎥🐾

Her owners became suspicious when they spotted her casually walking through the house with the chocolate bag, looking very pleased with herself. A quick investigation revealed the missing chocolate, and she was promptly brought to our ER for treatment.

While this pup may have earned a 10/10 for confidence, chocolate toxicity can be a serious emergency for dogs. Thankfully, her family acted quickly and got her the care she needed.

The good news? She's doing well. 💛

The bad news? We don't think she'll be getting promoted to master criminal anytime soon. 😂🐶🍫

Remember: if your pet gets into chocolate or another potentially toxic item, contact us right away!

We want to give a huge shout-out to our amazing Clinical Science Team—Dr. Rupp, Dr. Hart, our dedicated technicians, and assistant—for their hard work and commitment to advancing veterinary medicine through clinical research.

This incredible team has been involved in studies focused on blocked cats, acute diarrhea, ITP, and CBD research, helping contribute valuable information that may improve treatments and outcomes for pets in the future. Their dedication to both patient care and scientific discovery makes a lasting impact on the veterinary community.

Behind the scenes in the ER 🩺🐾
Our doctor and technician are performing an endoscopy on a canine patient to retrieve a suspected gastrointestinal foreign body. This minimally invasive procedure allows us to visualize and often remove the object without the need for surgery, helping patients recover more quickly and comfortably.

Premier Orland Park offers endoscopy for foreign body retrieval on a case-by-case basis. Please call our hospital directly to learn more and see if this service is available for your pet’s situation.

One thing about veterinary ER staff: we will stop for puppy cuddles. 💛🐾

Zoey made herself right at home in our treatment area and quickly became everyone’s favorite patient of the night. Between her fluffy puppy snuggles and sweet little face, she definitely kept the team smiling during a busy ER shift. 🩺✨🐶

Meet Blondie! 🐾

Blondie came in after injuring one of her front legs. After getting her comfortable with some pain medication, we took radiographs to investigate further — and discovered fractures in both front legs!

After placing bandages and recommending follow-up care with an orthopedic surgeon, Blondie was able to head home much happier and much more comfortable. 💕
