SandDancer Canine Swim

SandDancer Canine Swim 🐾 At SandDancer Canine Swim Therapy, we provide one-on-one, warm-water workouts for dogs of all ages & health conditions. Our facility is by appointment only.

Our low-impact, guided swim sessions promote healing, fitness, and confidence—helping pups move, play, and thrive! 💙💦 At SandDancer Canine Swim Fitness, our goal is to serve dog owners or “canine parents” seeking to enhance their pets’ fitness and overall well-being. Owner Mary Beth Glatz, is multi-certified in Canine Water Therapy from The Association of Water Canine Therapy (ACWT). At SandDancer

Canine Swim Fitness we provide quality exercise and warm-water workouts for dogs of all ages and health conditions, from young pups to adult dogs to geriatric dogs in need of supervised and guided exercise. At SandDancer Canine Swim Fitness our primary service is an individualized canine warm-water workout based on the dog’s needs, physical condition, age, and water acclimatization and involves a half-hour controlled swim along with massage and movement exercises in the warm supporting waters. Our heated pool was designed and built specifically for this purpose is 4 ft. deep, with water temperature maintained between 88º and 91º F. Warm-water therapy is safe for all dogs, helping to ease muscular tension, increase circulation, and reduce physical and emotional stress in canines as reported by the ACWT. Paddling in a safe, supervised environment, aquatic canine aerobic exercise helps tone muscles with the minimal amount of impact stress in addition to benefiting the dog’s heart and lungs. In fact, according to the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, a 5-minute swim is equivalent to walking five miles. Warm-water exercise is particularly beneficial for elderly and/or arthritic dogs for the same reason it is beneficial for humans: that is, as an ideal environment for low-impact exercise. From a more practical standpoint, the reduced-gravity environment that water provides enables the fitness trainer to easily lift and guide the dog through all phases of the workout. ☀️ Summer swimming season is here! 🐶💦

While many dogs LOVE the water this time of year, not every pup is naturally confident swimming — and that’s okay!

At SandDancer Canine Swim Therapy & Fitness, we love helping dogs safely learn how to swim, build confidence in the water, and simply have fun in a calm, controlled environment. ❤️

Whether your dog is:

🐾 brand new to swimming
🐾 building confidence
🐾 looking for low-impact exercise
🐾 staying active during the summer heat
🐾 or just LOVES the water

…our warm water pool is a great way to keep them moving and having fun all summer long!

Swimming is also an amazing way to:

✔ Build muscle
✔ Burn energy
✔ Support healthy joints
✔ Improve endurance
✔ Strengthen the bond between you and your pup

And honestly… watching dogs discover they LOVE swimming never gets old. 😊

🐾💙 Right There With Them—Every Step (and Splash) of the Way 💙🐾

One of the things we hear all the time at SandDancer is how much our clients LOVE being part of their dog’s swim session.

This isn’t a drop-off service… it’s an experience you share.

You’re right there in the room—cheering them on, encouraging them, watching their confidence grow with every stroke. Whether it’s their first time in the water or part of their regular fitness routine, you get to be part of the journey.

And honestly… your dog feels it too. 🐶💦

That connection, that trust, that bond—it’s what makes these sessions so special.

If you’ve never experienced it before, come see what it’s all about. We’d love to have you (and your pup) poolside with us.

Progress stories truly make our hearts smile. 💙🐾 Watching dogs grow stronger, more confident, and more comfortable in the water — especially when it helps with healing — is why we do what we do. 🐕

Here is Gretchen in her own words ❤️:

Odis has come so far in his swim lessons!

Odis’s sister, Kaluwa, started swim class because she needed to lose about 30lbs in a way that was gentle on her joints (mission accomplished!). But then Odis injured his back, and we thought that swim class would be a great way to help him heal.

So we enrolled Odis, and he was not nearly as excited or enthusiastic about swimming as Kaluwa was. But over time (took about a year and a half), he has become such a strong swimmer!!

He is obsessed with fetching his flamingo toy and works so hard in the pool. Nicole has been great getting him to this point.

Swimming has been a great way for him to get exercise in these cold temperatures and to give his back some relief in the warm water.

Thank you, SandDancer!!

Winter Weight? Your buddy got the blues?

Cold weather means shorter walks, fewer adventures, and maybe a few extra treats 😉

If your dog packed on a little cold weather cushion, you’re not alone — and the good news is there’s a safe, fun way to get them back in shape.

💧Warm Water Swim Therapy is an incredible low-impact workout:

Just 5 minutes of swimming can equal 20–30 minutes of walking!

Burns calories faster without stressing joints!

Perfect for senior dogs, arthritic pups, or dogs easing back into activity!

Builds muscle, endurance, and confidence — fast!

Think of it like this:
➡Walking is great
➡Swimming is like putting your dog on an elliptical… in warm water 🐶💪

If your best friend could use a gentle jump-start after winter, we’d love to help them paddle back into feeling their best.

Reach out to learn more!

❄️ Cold Weather Reminder for Our Canine Friends ❄️

When temperatures drop like this, dogs need a little extra care—just like we do.

🐾 Keep outdoor time short and purposeful
🐾 Watch for shivering, lifting paws, or slowing down
🐾 Protect paws from ice, salt, and frozen surfaces
🐾 Dry off thoroughly after any time outside
🐾 Senior dogs, puppies, and short-haired breeds are especially vulnerable

If it’s too cold for you to be outside comfortably, it’s probably too cold for your dog too. Stay warm, stay safe, and give those pups some extra cuddles indoors. 💙🐶

Meet Aurora!!

She's an 11-year-old mini poodle who recently had both of her back ACLs repaired. After surgery, she waited the recommended eight weeks before starting physical therapy and began working at a veterinary rehab clinic with exercises and underwater treadmill. While it helped, Aurora was still very weak in her hind end.

Her family reached out to Nicole here at SandDancer to see if therapeutic swimming could support her recovery — and the results have been incredible. 💙

Rehab Snapshot:

• Surgery: Bilateral ACL/CCL repair
• Initial rehab: Underwater treadmill & PT exercises
• Main challenge: Hind end weakness + muscle loss
• Added modality: Warm-water swim therapy
• Outcome: Weekly measurable improvement + long-term conditioning plan

Swimming is a powerful addition to orthopedic rehab — allowing dogs to rebuild strength with low impact, develop rear-end and core stability, and regain confidence safely and comfortably.

These are the cases we love — helping dogs stay mobile, confident, and actively enjoying life after surgery. 🐾💪

If your dog is recovering from ACL/CCL surgery, hip or elbow issues, arthritis, or muscle loss, warm-water swim therapy may be extremely beneficial.
