The dogs are absolutely loving the splash pad and water play this week! Between the pools, hose, and splash pad, laying under the umbrella, everyone’s finding their favorite way to beat the heat and have some fun!

🐾 Welcome to the Kikis Canines family, Nash! 🐾

Nash had a fantastic first obedience lesson after his consultation and meet-and-greet!

Today was all about getting comfortable in a new environment, building confidence, and having some fun along the way. He got to say hello to the cows (which made him feel right at home since he has cow family at home!) and even met our donkey. His reaction was basically, “That’s one big-a$$ dog!” 😂

We were so happy to see him settling in, exploring the yard, taking treats, and already responding to commands. It’s always exciting meeting both a wonderful new pup and a dedicated owner, and we’re looking forward to starting this training journey together!

Bonus points for the butterfly that landed right on Nash’s back during his lesson 🦋🐶 - clearly even nature knew he was a special guest today!

Welcome, Nash! We can’t wait to watch you grow. ❤️

Service Dogs in Training can learn how to apply calming, grounding pressure during moments of anxiety, medical episodes, overstimulation, panic attacks, and more. This pressure can help regulate breathing, lower heart rate, provide body awareness, and create a feeling of safety for their handler.

Watching these dogs learn to naturally settle in and support their person is one of the most rewarding parts of training. 🐾

Today we remember and honor the brave men, women, and working dogs who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. 🇺🇸🐾

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend - it’s a day to reflect on the courage, loyalty, and selflessness shown by so many. From our military heroes to the K9s who stood beside them, we are forever grateful for the sacrifices made to protect and serve.

Working dogs have served beside their handlers through some of the toughest moments in history, showing incredible bravery, loyalty, and heart. Today, we remember them too. ❤️

Something so important for all dogs is loose leash walking - and today R***r was a PERFECT example of that!👏🐾

Today we really started getting into more advanced critiquing with R***r during his service dog training - head position, exact heel placement, tail position, tuck positioning during downs, and overall body awareness.

These are much more advanced skills that most pet dogs never truly "need." Most dogs simply need to learn how to loose leash walk calmly and remain neutral in public environments - and that alone is HUGE btw!

But for service dogs, we begin fine-tuning every little detail. Staying focused on the handler, ignoring all other distractions, not sniffing the floor, maintaining exact position, and always being aware of their handler’s medical needs are all extremely important skills.

R***r absolutely crushed it today with Erin and continues to impress me every lesson!👏❤️🦮
