RUN-DON'T WALK!!

Our Puppy Kindergarten class filled so quickly, we have scheduled another one to start on 8/16 at 2:30pm. Here are the details:

*5 week class meets 8/16, 8/30, 9/13, 9/20 and 10/11
*One hour each week 2:30-3:30
*Cost is $160 for all 5 weeks

Puppy Kindergarten starts Sunday 8/2 at 11am. This is your chance to help your pup get started off on the right paw! The schedule for this class will be 8/2, 8/16, 8/30, 9/13 and 9/20-all at 11am. We will cover all the basic puppy information and answer your puppy questions! You will learn how to teach sit, down, come when called, name recognition, polite greeting, leash walking and more. You will get help with house training and puppy biting!

Puppy Kindergarten starts Sunday 6/28 at 9:30am

We will meet for 5 one hour training sessions to help you and your pup get a great start!

This class is for pups 8 weeks to 4 months old. We cover all the important puppy topics:
House training, Puppy biting and nipping, enrichment, socialization, leash walking, teaching sit, down, come when called, drop it, leave it, going to the vet's and so much more!

I saw this on the wall at another training center today.

It is a concept I remind my students of frequently. If there's a behavior you don't want your dog to do, don't let them practice it.

That doesn't mean let them do it and then correct them or tell them it's "wrong", it means prevent it from happening. Because often, when you pay attention to your dog after they do an unwanted behavior, you inadvertently reinforce the very behavior you don't want.

An example is jumping on guests when they arrive. In puppy class, we practice greetings with pup on leash (prevents jumping) and playing the search game (provides an alternative behavior). When greetings aren't over- the- top exciting, we can switch to asking for a harder behavior ("sit" or "go to place").

Food prep day for the Blue Rock Dog Training dog that started it all!

Doz (rhymes with Buzz) was the challenging young dog that led me to the path of behavior modification and positive reinforcement training. He went on to compete successfully in Rally,Obedience,Herding and Agility, act as a neutral dog for other reactive dogs in training, and was the inspiration for the Blue Rock Dog Training logo.

Now nearly 15, Doz can't digest commercial dog food anymore, so he gets a homemade diet of turkey, sweet potatoes, spinach, carrots, green beans and apples. He's been thriving on this diet for 6 months now.

That's an extreme diet change, but I have worked with several dogs who have seen major behavior changes after a diet change or the addition of a probiotic. Puppy Kindergarten starts Sunday 6/7 at 11am. 5 weeks of learning for your pup for $160.

We will meet for an hour each week (no class on Father's day or July 5th) and help you navigate all things puppy!

You will learn what socialization really is and how to help your pup have a custom socialization plan for your pup.

How to minimize behaviors like puppy biting, chewing items you don't want chewed, accidents in the house, jumping, resource guarding, leash pulling and more.

Barb and Lottie just got back from Clicker Expo in New York. It is always so good to go away for a few days, spend time thinking about dog training, talking about dog training, and learning about dog training! We always come home with new ideas to help you and your dog have a better life!

Puppy Socialization! Our next puppy class starts tomorrow and there is one opening left. I am always a little sad when people come to me with an adolescent dog with issues that could have been prevented if they had taken puppy kindergarten. We will cover loads of common puppy topics like biting, jumping, shy puppies, over-excited puppies, housetraining and so much more.
