Options for osteosarcoma in dogs: (1) Amputation with or without chemo; (2) Radiation & chemo without amputation; (3) Euthanasia; or (4) Keep comfortable until euthanizing. Ginger was not a good candidate for Option 2. Next post . . . more of Ginger's story.

If your dog starts limping or is hesitant to put weight on a particular leg (with no known injury) -- go see your vet. It might be bone cancer. Ginger was limping, and we thought she just pulled a muscle. It was bone cancer. Next post . . . the continuation of her story.

We have been gone for a little while. Our dog, Ginger was diagnosed with bone cancer in her right leg. After much reading and reflection we opted to have her right leg removed; the option was to euthanize her. This has not been easy, to say the least but, she is in otherwise good health and most dogs recover well and adapt. Time will tell.
