Mar and I get a special treat this week, in the form of a visit from Vyenna Morgan Vyenna Morgan 🥰

A nice break from the bubble I’ve been living in at vet school to explore a little more of Arizona 🥰

This is what mar thinks of our second week of vet school 😂

Things are good with us overall. Some training scenarios that need some tightening up, but overall we are both slowly adapting to our new normal: study, study, and more study… plus heat and early mornings 😂

Mar tried out a slatmill for the first time yesterday! She was definitely a bit stressed in the beginning but as I showed her how to control it she got more and more confident. I gave her plenty of breaks from it and she willingly got back on every time. I think she may learn to enjoy it! Definitely could be a helpful tool to supplement her exercise during the brutal Arizona summers.

Thank you The Pitbull Store™️ ! We will be back! What a great spot

First time doing disc since my move to Arizona! Had a blast today with Anthem Disc Dogs joining their disc league. Had to get up at 4:15 AM because a 5 am start is the only way to “beat the heat” in Arizona (not really, because it was still 90 degrees lol) . 🫣 adjusting to the heat and getting up so early to fulfill my dog is definitely an adjustment but you gotta do what you gotta do😂 this time of the year, it’s too hot at night to even walk your dog. 11 pm it can still be in the 100s. So 5 am is your only chance 😅

Anyways, Mar did great this morning and had so much fun getting to run and play her favorite game. I’m excited to see where this takes us!

Today, we start our next adventure & move to Arizona. It’ll be quite the adjustment, but I’m excited nonetheless :)

It’s 115 outside

Mar has been camping, road tripping, and traveling from the moment I brought her home and throughout her life. Now she’s 6 years old and more well traveled than most people. Yes, she gets excited, but she’s extremely adaptable in new environments because of her constant exposure to traveling to new places. This, in combination with the fulfillment that comes from exploring new places freely, and training, allowed her to then settle in each camp site we went to on this trip (we were at a different campsite every day for two weeks).

Don’t get me wrong- she had plenty of “feral” moments as she should - running, jumping, zoomies, and doing all the natural dog things. But her adaptability to new environments is something I want to try to implement with every dog I have for the rest of my life, it’s truly priceless to my lifestyle.

Big news.. I’ve been waiting to make this post for a long time, but the reality of this huge change is just starting to really hit.

I want to help more dogs. I want to know as much as I possibly can, and continue to train dogs but at a much more elevated level. My thirst for knowledge on behavior will never stop. This is just the next step for me.

This is a huge change, but I’m ready for it.

Thank you to every single person who has been a part of my journey. You know who you are

(Parts of this post were taken from my personal statement that got me into 4 veterinary schools. Please do not take any of it 😊)

600 feet in the air and on a rotating glass floor? No problem for Mar 😌

(Space needle is for service animals only).

Happy dog one week into our road trip. Made it to Washington and loving it. This was our beautiful dispersed camping spot from last night 💜
