When Island Fiber came to Orange Beach, many times the first smiling face customers would see was Casey Scott. Even when it wasn’t necessarily his job after he moved into sales.

“I was still calling him first,” local artist and Casey’s friend Nick Cantrell said. “In fact, he was working to have fiber installed at my new shop.”

Casey, who began battling medical issues in October of 2025 including cancer complicated by pneumonia, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 17, after collapsing at home the previous day, his wife, Samantha, said in a social media post.

“On Friday morning, Casey went into cardiac arrest,” Samantha Scott said. “A CT scan on Saturday morning confirmed that he had suffered a traumatic brain injury. He passed peacefully yesterday afternoon with us at his side.”

His passing brought an outpouring of heartfelt remembrances from those in the Orange Beach and Gulf Shores community who were touched by his happy face, good company and willingness to help.

“I said the exact same thing to my husband this morning,” Cam Catone Price said. “He was there for us right after Sally. A wonderful soul lost.”

Meet Cheddar! 🧀 Your future couch companion might just be this handsome little Pomeranian!

Cheddar is 3.5 years old, weighs 11 lbs, and has a personality that will steal your heart. He is friendly with everyone, but this little guy has a special place in his heart for the men. His dream home would include a male human he can follow around, keep company, and curl up on the couch with. ❤️

Cheddar is house-trained, does very well on a leash, and rides nicely in the car. He would love a home where someone is around more often than not and where he can enjoy being part of someone's everyday life. He would do best as the only dog or with a maximum of one other dog around his size.

Cheddar isn't a fan of his crate, but we're continuing to work on it. We suspect he may do just fine being left out once he's settled into his new home and comfortable with his surroundings. He may need a belly band during the first few days while he adjusts to his new environment.

As a Pomeranian, Cheddar will need regular grooming and brushing to keep his coat looking and feeling its best. We haven't had him around cats or small children, so we cannot say how he would do with either.

If you're looking for a little shadow who wants to be your sidekick, walking buddy, and couch-snuggling companion, Cheddar might be your guy!
