This is the “lite” version of the extended b***y rub session this morning. I needed a hand to hold the phone so they just got a little scratching when one handed, but in actuality, I had one leg braced in front of the other and was massaging pony muscle butts until my arms felt like they’d fall off. At several points Raz was backed into me b***y to chest (evidence on mu sweatshirt 😂) so I was getting some arm/hand and core workout simultaneously. If you ever need a dose of nature or need to borrow the nervous system regulation a horse provides, come visit the barn 🥰

This cooler weather is amazing! It’s made it even more enjoyable just spending time with the horses, giving scratches and b***y rubs. Yesterday evening I was out loving on the ponies in late day sunshine with a great breeze, so I decided to just sit in the pasture with them. The geldings didn’t give me a minutes thought. Razzle, on the other hand, gave me a “what kind of weird thing is she doing now!?” kind of look before she came over to graze near me. Some belly scratches earned me some head grooming. It would be hard to think of a better way to spend an early fall evening. 🍁

We are living Taylor Swift’s lyrics these days! Yesterday hit 100 degrees on September 18th. The horses are finding shady spots to nap (and repeatedly collecting ALL the stupid hitchhiker ball thing-a-ma-jigs they can collect in their manes on the daily!), hanging out in the tree canopy by the creek, in the shelter with the solar fan, hosing themselves in the sprayer, or Star even comes to nap in the barn aisle where she knows I’ll turn the fan on for her. I brought the dogs on Wednesday and it was just too hot so we made extra trips to the creek so they could cool off playing in the water. Making the best of it we can but will be excited if the predictions of lower temps next week comes true.

Summer is holding on tight. We are on day 7,027,639 days of temps above 90 degrees, or maybe it is day 45, but it feels about the same. We are still cooling off with hosing. Gideon and Jasper like to groom each other while they get a cooling shower. Star likes to come into the barn for a nap sometimes. If I’m in there, she’s sometimes a little nosey and comes to see what I am doing. I pretty much love it! In limited amounts, they’ve been getting some of their favorite summer treat: watermelon. The watermelon juicy faces are some of my favorite.

So many reminders of the beauty of nature around the barn. And Joro spiders. Those don’t fall into the “beautiful” category in my head 😝 Yikes they are everywhere. Bring me all the butterflies instead 🥰 ❤️

The 💦 garden sprayer = 🐴 horse water fountain apparently. I’ll call that a win! 🥇 🐴
