🐾 PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE SHAVING YOUR POMERANIAN! 🐾
That beautiful, fluffy Pomeranian coat isn’t just for looks. It’s part of what makes this breed so special, and it serves a very important purpose!
🧡 A Pomeranian’s Double Coat Is Designed by Nature
Pomeranians have two distinct layers of fur that work together to protect them.
🐾 The Undercoat: A thick, soft, dense layer that provides insulation and helps protect against temperature changes.
🐾 The Guard Hairs: The longer outer coat that helps shield their delicate skin from sunlight, dirt, insects, and environmental elements.
✂️ WHY YOU SHOULD AVOID SHAVING YOUR POMERANIAN
🚫 Coat Damage: Close clipping can disrupt the natural appearance and regrowth of the coat. Some Pomeranians may experience uneven, patchy, or unusually textured regrowth.
🚫 Post-Clipping Alopecia: In some Pomeranians, the hair may take months or even years to return, and occasionally it may never fully recover.
🚫 Loss of Natural Protection: Their double coat provides insulation and helps protect their skin from direct sunlight. Removing it can increase their risk of sunburn and exposure to environmental irritants.
🚫 Skin Problems: Shaving too closely can leave their sensitive skin more vulnerable to irritation and damage.
💗 PROPER GROOMING IS THE KEY!
Regular brushing, removing loose undercoat, bathing, proper drying, and light trimming when necessary are much better ways to maintain a beautiful, healthy Pomeranian coat.
✨ A Pomeranian’s coat is their crowning glory. Protect it, maintain it, and appreciate it! ✨
Remember, a shorter coat does not automatically mean a cooler or more comfortable Pomeranian. During hot weather, shade, fresh water, air conditioning, and avoiding excessive heat are essential.
🐾 At Wild Heart Pomeranians, we believe in preserving the natural beauty, health, and integrity of this incredible breed.
❤️ Love the fluff. Protect the fluff. Never underestimate the importance of that beautiful double coat! ❤️
