🚨 HELP! SIX DOGS NEED YOU TO STOP SCROLLING. 🚨

As part of our commitment to transparency and community engagement, ARC shares a weekly “Call for Community Support” on social media. These animals need your help to find adoption or rescue placement.

This post features animals who:
• Are struggling in the shelter environment
• May have medical and/or behavioral challenges
• Urgently need support from the community

***Animals in this post require ADOPTION OR RESCUE commitment by 5pm on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.***

Timely community response can directly impact their outcome. If an animal’s condition or behavior continues to decline without an adopter or a rescue partner committing by the stated deadline, humane euthanasia may be considered.

Our goal is to provide a clearer understanding of the challenges animals face in the shelter environment, and the role public support can play in helping them find the right placement.

If you’ve considered adopting from ARC or becoming a rescue partner, we’d love to connect with you. Sharing these posts can also help connect an animal with the right person!

📞 1,264 calls for service answered across all jurisdictions
🐾 406 animals brought into our care across all jurisdictions
🏡 193 animals found their forever homes
🤝 146 animals transferred to rescue partners

Meet Leon (A011031) 🐾 — your new favorite chill companion!

Highlights from Leon’s Doggy Day Outs:
🚗 Riding around in the car and watching the world go by
🐶 Chilling on a pack walk with other dogs
👃 Taking leisurely sniffaris and exploring at his own pace
🍪 Gently taking treats from a 2-year-old
🐴 Meeting horses, chickens, and cats
🫶 Getting plenty of pets and attention

Fosters report that Leon walks well on leash, rides great in the car, loves snacks, and knows “sit.”

This senior Akita is happiest when he can simply hang out with his people, enjoy a cozy spot, and get a few snacks along the way.
