She has fostered a life long natural passion for dogs and horses into Skylla Training Services. Raised with dogs and horses of all breeds, Courtney was inspired at a young age by her grandfather David Fullerton and "Uncle Phil". Courtney has been training and showing dogs of all breeds for over 10 years. Possessing a talent for horses as well, she has been riding since the age of 4 and has trained horses of varied breeds, beginning her lessons at the age of 10, she is especially fond of Tennessee Walkers. “Being around and training animals is something that runs deep in my family and in my blood”. Her Uncle Phil taught Courtney how to ride starting at age 4 on his stallion Sensations Showtime. Courtney has been active in 4H for many years. “I just have a love for animals and I love to share this passion and knowledge with others, especially when it comes to animals that have been abused or are need of rescue or need adopting. I knew I could make a difference after saving both dogs and horses that were slated to be destroyed by turning them around, and giving them a new lease on life. Changing their lives changed mine”. Long two days at the fairgrounds! No special placements for the mal’s, but that’s OKAY! We didn’t go for ribbons or high scores. It was my opportunity to see how they would perform, without prep in a level up class. And I will say, they did not disappoint! They are both mentally maturing beautifully.

Rather, they reminded me that they too need more work and practice. Which they’ll be getting over the winter and come next spring we’ll be going back in competitively 🙂

Our first year being proud supporters of our county FFA! Last night we welcomed Rowdy to the flock.

Onto other news:

1: Anybody wanting to pay for our services via card/venmo/paypal, etc, will be charged an additional 3%.

2: there will be some contract changes regarding lack of payment. Right now, we have 2 outstanding bills. One bill, I traded my services for theirs. I completed my services a year ago. To date, they seem to have vanished. The other bill, the dog is here, and the bill is over a month past due with no communication from owner.

As much as I understand life struggles, and I want to work with/help people, I cannot be a charity and taken advantage of.

Something many trainers either will not tell you, or, do not demonstrate to you. TRAINING in every situation you do, everyday, is and forever will be beneficial. In this case, we have a decent heel, good sit. But we also have the occasional stray off to see poultry or cats. We utilize the heel sit and continue our work on the leave-it command. At the same time, confidence is boosted.

This boy is coming along very nicely!
A little slower than what I’m used to, but nonetheless he’s eager! There’s never a timeline on training and accomplishments. Just have to go their pace.

Not the score or placing I’d hoped for, but that’s ok! This girl got her 2nd title. Now it’s back to the rally rings! I’m very happy with our run on this one, it felt smooth, less amped, and her leg crowding was exceptionally better
