Amelia is a 5-year-old spayed female. She is current on her vaccinations and microchipped!

Meet Amelia! Amelia is a sweet, low-key cat who may appear to be a bit more reserved at first, but all it takes is a few gentle pets and reassurances to get her to warm up. Once she knows you, she absolutely adores getting lots of pets and will rub right up against your leg for extra attention. She is otherwise a very mellow lady who enjoys spending her days taking long cat naps or hanging out next to a sunny window.

In her last home, Amelia lived with several other cats she got along with well, so she would love another low-key kitty in her new home, though it’s not required. Otherwise, she would prefer a calmer, quieter home, as she may still startle at times. So, any children should be at least 5 years old. She may do OK with other calm and respectful pets in the house, given slow and proper introductions to one another.

What a weekend! 🐾 Our Onalaska Animal Hospital team had a busy Saturday at Tails & Trails Wellness Fest and Pet Expo LAX, and we had a great time at both!

At Pet Expo LAX, we were especially excited to sponsor the children's area and see so many young animal lovers having fun. Dr. Nicole also shared important pet first-aid tips during her presentation.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to say hello, and to the organizers and volunteers who made both events possible. We always enjoy getting out in the community, catching up with familiar faces and meeting new ones.

Even when your pet seems perfectly healthy, bloodwork can reveal things that aren't obvious from a wagging tail, a healthy appetite, or even a physical exam.

A few extra pounds can make a big difference in your pet's health, comfort, and mobility. But the number on the scale doesn't tell the whole story.

In recognition of National Pet Obesity Awareness Day, we're sharing these helpful body condition charts from the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention (). They show what to look for when assessing your dog or cat's body condition.

Hi, I'm Cola, and I'm a 2-year-old female husky mix. I'm up to date on my vaccines, spayed, heartworm-negative, and microchipped. I have been in the shelter for almost 150 days! This sweet girl needs a forever home.

3 words that describe me: Adventurous, Curious, Energetic

I should do well with children of all ages given proper supervision. I should do well with other dogs given proper introductions and time to adjust. My friends at Coulee Region Humane Society are unsure how I'd do with cats.

Cola has become a favorite with our CRHS Doggy Day Outers: "She did amazing. My favorite dog I’ve had so far. She was a little timid around people, especially when there were a bunch of people. But she stayed by me and checked my facial expressions, then went to them. She loved to watch squirrels and other animals. I did not see any aggression or red flags with her. She was fine in the car just laid down right away."
