When a delivery driver spotted an injured dog in Wayne, her desperation for help was unmistakable.
Annie, was covered in puncture wounds and in severe pain. By the time Annie reached the veterinarian, her body had begun swelling rapidly. A bite wound to her throat had punctured her trachea, allowing air to escape beneath her skin and become trapped in the surrounding tissue.
She could not wait. Her body was expanding like a balloon.
Annie was taken straight into emergency surgery to repair the damage to her throat and treat her other significant wounds. Thanks to quick action from the veterinary team, Annie made it through surgery and is expected to recover.
Annie will need ongoing care, monitoring, medication, and time to heal from the trauma she has endured. Her initial emergency treatment alone totaled $1,451.80, and additional expenses are likely still ahead.
