October is National Pit Bull Awareness Month! 🐾🩷

This month is all about celebrating pit bull type dogs, challenging stereotypes, and reminding us to see each dog for who they are as an individual. These dogs can be goofy, loving, playful, cuddly, energetic, and everything in between. Their personalities are what make them special, and there’s so much more to them than a label or appearance.

Do you have a pit bull at home? Share a picture in the comments and tell us a little about their personality! Are they the biggest cuddle bug, a professional couch potato, a goofy troublemaker, or your favorite adventure buddy? We want to meet them! 🐶💕

October 21 is National Pets for Veterans Day, a day to recognize the incredible bond between veterans and the animals who support them. 🐾🇺🇸

For many veterans, pets, service dogs, and emotional support animals can provide companionship, comfort, and a sense of connection while navigating challenges such as PTSD, anxiety, depression, and the transition back to civilian life.

Today, we’re celebrating the special connection between veterans and their pets and recognizing the important role animals can play in their lives.

Want to help? Consider supporting organizations that connect veterans with companion and service animals through donations, volunteering, or spreading the word. ❤️🐶 veterans.nebraska.gov/vets-get-pets

October is World Pet Obesity Month, and October 14 is National Pet Obesity Awareness Day! 🐶🐱

Over half of cats and dogs are overweight, and those extra pounds can lead to diabetes, arthritis and a shorter life. The good news? Small changes at home can make a big difference, from adding fresh foods like carrots or blueberries to their bowl to making mealtime more active.

Here are 5 ways to help your pet stay at a healthy weight 👉 https://omahavetsgroup.com/articles/pet-obesity

Studies show that more than 50% of cats and dogs worldwide are overweight or obese. Typically, these pets do not live as long as leaner animals due to the diseases that stem from obesity, such as diabetes, heart disease and osteoarthritis.
