Appreciation post for the one and only Stanley — our teacher dog AND Pups with a Purpose CEO! 😉

Even on his 9th birthday, Stanley was putting in the work! 🎉 Last night he helped us teach our Puppy Essentials Skills students, Bonnie, Holly, Winnie & Archie, their introduction to the Place Command.

Place is just one of the handful of skills we work on in this class to help you and your puppy navigate those teenage months and build some really important skills along the way!

Big Dog of the Month 💕River the Catahoula Mix 💕

Ms. River has been in our daycare program for more than 2 years now and we’ve loved every second of getting to know this sweet girlie. Her all time favorite friend is Henry the Golden Retriever! River likes to tell Henry all about her weekend adventures and zoom around the room with him!

River’s personality is one of a kind and is always making us laugh, daycare would not be the same without her!

Little Dog of the Month 💛Knox the Wheaton Terrier 💛

Knox has gone through our Therapy Dog classes and you’ll find him bringing comfort and joy in his mom’s 5th grade class! 📚

Knox has been coming to our daycare since late 2023, and we’re so happy to see him each week! His best furry friend is Willow the Great Pyrenees mix, and their favorite game is chase! Knox will be turning 6 next week and we can’t wait to celebrate this handsome guy!

Mocha & Benny just two peas in a pod at our Puppy Social Class 🫛

These two hit it off right away!

Matching play, taking turns winning, and even taking short breaks in play *chefs kiss*

Our Puppy Social Class is a 45 minute structured puppy play group designed for puppies under 6 months old. This class is led by our seasoned Puppy Trainers with thousands of hours of running play groups under our belts. We created this class to provide a safe place for your puppy to play & learn.

Puppies need to be

• Under 6 months
• Up to date v accinations
• Clear f***l test 💩

We hold this class just twice a month and with only 10 spots available- it fills quickly!

We just put our September dates on the website!

Wilton’s First Playgroup!

Good things take time and that is exactly why we take such great care when introducing a new dog to our pack! Wilton has been progressing through his Day Training Program and got a taste of playgroups to help strengthen his skills around other dogs - a big big distraction for him!

Wilton has a jump start because he knows many of our essential playgroup skills and cues like how to recall to his name, how to move away from exciting things, how to know when it is time to calm down & relax. These skills help the dogs play appropriately with each other - we use our groups to teach and reinforce good behaviors!

We always start with a little pack walk around the play yard to help shake the wiggles out. We can gage body language from each dog to ensure that things go smoothly! Once we get some nice calm behavior we let them play with lots of breaks! Once they master their small groups; only then are they moved to the main playgroups.

We look for THREE things when running our Playgroups

+ Dogs are mirroring each other during play. If one play bows - the other is play bowing. If one wants to wrestle - the other is down to wrestle too!

+ Dogs are taking turns winning! This is a true test to see if the play is appropriate and balanced. Each dog should be taking turns winning the game and often the other/older dog is helping the younger/smaller dog win!

+ Dogs are taking breaks in play! Sometimes the breaks are just a second or two, but this is an important part in promoting positive group play! This is often where dogs need the most help from staff in our groups.

Thankfully we have so many wonderful teacher dogs in our group to help new dogs learn the ropes! We couldn’t do it without them!

✨BELLA✨

For our August Little Dog of the Month we are spotlighting Bella! She is a Lab and German Shepherd mix who has been coming to our daycare since early 2023. She’s super chill and laid back in the room and mostly enjoys people watching and enrichment! She does have a few select friends which include, Remy the Golden Retriever and Ivy the Sheepadoodle. We love having this peaceful gal in group 💕

August’s Big Dog of the Month is, Isaac, a loving Black Lab! Isaac loves playing his best friends, Wally the Shepherd mix and Luna the English Cream Golden Retriever. We’ve known Isaac for about 2 years and have enjoyed seeing him having a blast in daycare every week!
