Puppy Essentials Week 1 & 2 Recap with Joplin the beagle puppy!

We jumped into our latest Puppy Essentials Class with learning the basics - sit, stay, release, intro to loose leash walking, and leave it! ⭐️

The puppies and their people rocked their homework from week 1 and excelled with their week 2 exercises!

✨Big Dog of the Month✨

For June we will be celebrating one of our favorite shepherd mixes, Mysti! She’s playful and vocal from once she gets here in the morning, til we do group place at the end of the day.

Her best friends are Henry the Golden Retriever and Chibi the Pembroke Welsh Corgi! We love having this gentle giant around 💗

⚡️Little Dogs of the Month! ⚡️

For Little Dog of the Month we’re highlighting a more medium sized, sibling duo, Lucy & Moose!! Lucy is an Old English Sheepdog/poodle mix and Moose is a Soft-Coated Wheaton Terrier and Poodle Mix. They’re in our little guy group because they prefer a more calmer kind of play with smaller dogs.

Moose loves to wrestles with his sister or his best friend Dill the Goldendoodle! Lucy on the other hand plays with Pink Cherry the American Pitbull and John Ross the Terrier Mix.

Not only do they come to daycare but they have both gone through our puppy and therapy dog classes. It’s been a joy watching them grow, play and learn 🌸

Future therapy dogs at work! 🐶💕

Saturday’s classes were full of important learning opportunities. Our Pre-Therapy Dog teams practiced polite people greeting around medical equipment, including wheelchairs. We’d say Maverick definitely understood the assignment and was thoroughly enjoying this class exercise. 😉

Then, our Therapy Dog Readiness teams participated in realistic therapy dog visit scenarios with the help of some amazing volunteers. From read-to-a-dog programs to meeting new people, these teams are building the skills they’ll need to make a difference in their communities.

Did you know that reading to dogs can help improve children’s reading confidence, motivation, and fluency? 📚

We had a blast at new private dog park!

This was our first time visiting and I cannot wait to go back! We brought along my personal dog Stanley and a client dog Gus to check things out!

We don’t recommend public dogs parks for a handful of reasons (illnesses, untrained & unsocial dogs, learning bad habits, potential for dog fights) the list is endless. 👎

BUT a private dog park - that’s amazing 👍

We rented this fully fenced 3+ acre park for an hour and had the whole place to ourselves - a dog trainers dream!!!

We trained a little but really allowed the dogs to let loose and explore, find sticks, p*e on every blade of grass, and sniff to their hearts content.

We left with two fulfilled & happy dogs!

The dogs can’t wait to go back!
