We have an urgent situation concerning a 7 year old cat that is currently residing in the home of one of our Feline Friendz in Nebraska volunteers. We need your assistance in finding a forever home for Eli, because of his medical condition. We want to make sure that whoever adopts Eli is aware of the responsibility and commitment required to manage his care. We are hoping that there is someone in your network that will adopt Eli and would be committed to his wellbeing.
Tracey is seeking help to rehome Eli, a special needs cat. He’s approximately 7 years old, neutered brown black tabby, not declawed, Felv and Fiv negative, and microchipped. Tracey found Eli as a neighborhood stray in 2020. She posted him on Lost Pets and Nextdoor, but no one claimed him. Feline Friendz posted a courtesy listing and Eli was adopted to a very nice couple, but was returned back to Tracey a year later with kidney issues. Apparently, he had a blockage which had gone unnoticed by the owners, which resulted in kidney damage. Eli receives 100ml of IV fluids everyday (he is a champ and takes it very well with a 20G needle). He is also on an RX food Purina NF Advanced Kidney Care. Tracey is seeking to rehome Eli, because she has 8 other cats and Eli does not get along with all of them. Because of this, Eli has been segregated in a spare bedroom for 4 years now . Eli deserves to have a loving owner that can spend more time with him as Tracey’s time is divided between two places (her job and her home with multiple cats). He needs to be part of a household where he can have more open space to roam instead of being separated from the other cats. He would most likely do better as an only cat or maybe depending on the personality, one other cat. Since Tracey found Eli as a stray and was used to being outside, he may not be good for a family with small children or dogs as he is a door dasher. Eli has a very big personality. He is a lover boy and would be a great candidate to be a therapy cat or emotional support animal for someone that needs a dedicated companion. He loves being the center of attention and is not one to hide under the bed when company comes over. He is a “greeter” and begs for attention even from people he does not know. He’s the friendliest cat that Tracey has ever met. He constantly wants to be picked up and carried around, wants to sleep in a human’s bed (he to snuggle and will even lay his head on your pillow), uses a litter box (litter robot trained too). Tracey recently had a knee surgery and is having some difficulty taking care of 9 cats and herself because of mobility issues. Tracey needs help rehoming Eli as he is special needs and Feline Friendz does not have the resources to find a proper home for him. We hope that you know of a Vet Tech, Veterinarian or someone who has treated a cat with this condition and would not be intimidated by giving sub cutaneous fluids. Feline Friendz would be willing to teach an adopter how to give the fluids if required.
