🐾 Declawing Isn’t Just Removing the Nail

Declawing a cat is actually the amputation of the last bone of each toe. Because cats walk on their toes, this can affect how they move and may contribute to pain, sensitivity, or behavior changes.

The good news? Scratching itself is completely normal and there are much kinder ways to manage it. 💛

Try:
• Providing sturdy scratching posts in different textures
• Placing scratchers near favorite sleeping or lounging spots
• Regular nail trims
• Using furniture protectors or nail caps if needed
• Rewarding your cat for using appropriate scratching areas

Scratching isn’t your cat being “bad.” It’s how they stretch, mark their territory, maintain their claws, and simply cat. 🐱

Protect the furniture, but keep the toe beans. 🐾💛

Hey Everyone!

Long time, no talk. We're still here! As you may or may not know, our services are operated on a mostly volunteer basis. We love being able to over the Client Connection service to the community for free, but we do have to roll with life as it comes.

The team behind the Client Connection Service has had a few major life situations come up and we want to be able to offer this service to the best of our ability.

While we figure out a few technicalities, we will be pausing the Client Connection Service until we can put our whole attention into making it great and gathering more available sitters to join us to be able to fill incoming requests.

You are still welcome to message us for any questions about how to hire a professional pet sitter. We are also keeping our phone book up for the public to utilize.

"Don't tell me he just needs more sleep."

Rest doesn't seem to help.
Walks don't seem to help.
Enrichment doesn't seem to help.

I hear you. I really do.
And I hear how exhausting that can be.

Here's something worth considering.

Not everything that calms one dog's nervous system will help another's.

That lick mat? It may reduce arousal in one dog and increase it in another.
That trip to the dog park?
Some dogs recover quickly. Others may carry those effects for days.

That constant access to another dog? Some thrive on it. Others never get enough time to regulate between interactions.
They will crave it more.

Dysregulation isn't usually solved by finding one magic activity.
I wish it was that easy.

It’s nuanced.
It’s individual.
It needs tweaked. Often.
