Here is an updated list of squeekers that can travel to Texas or elsewhere in search of new carrots. Alliance is a very nice promising show prospect, in particular. PM for discussions.

🎉 It’s official!

I’m incredibly happy (and a little amazed!) to share that I have officially received my Cavy Judge’s License and am now ARBA Cavy Judge #1073.

This has been a long journey filled with learning, travel, early mornings, late nights, and a whole lot of cavies. I’m deeply grateful to the many judges, mentors, and cavy friends who have supported me over the years and helped me learn and raise all 13 recognized breeds. Your guidance, patience, and shared knowledge mean more than I can properly express.

A very special thank you to the judges I had the privilege of assisting:
Gene Gillispie, Randy Cler, Mary Lou Eisel, Andrew Miles, G Joseph Colucci, Steve Lussier, Nicole Rocha, and Melissa Cefalu Magee.
I sincerely appreciate the time, mentorship, and opportunities you gave me to learn.

To my amazing husband, Brian Montefusco — thank you for believing in me and encouraging me to make this a priority. Your support has been incredible. You held down the fort and cared for our herd while I spent nearly every weekend away from home since November between cavy shows and work travel — even managing 40 pigs on baby watch and sending me daily photo updates. I truly couldn’t have done this without you.

And a huge thank you to Amanda Hoffman and Marianna Lage for being my sounding boards and emotional support through all the crazy caviness. Thank you for the encouragement, the laughs, and the endless fun — I love you gals!

For now, I plan to judge about one show per month as I balance work obligations, travel, and maintaining the ability to show my own cavies — especially in support of our District 3 clubs. I will certainly consider additional shows during slower months when possible.

I am open to considering judging bids for dates beginning after Specialty.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. I’m excited for this next chapter and look forward to seeing everyone around the show table soon!

Update #4: . ALL CREAMS HAVE BEEN CLAIMED.
Attached is a new list. PE Creams are claimed, Hilmar Claimed.
In time for the NTOP (Nebraska), and ACBA Specialty, COTM is pleased to offer this nice package of Cream (and one White) Americans and Satin Americans (and one likely Cal Pattern). I'd prefer them to go as a package to someone wanting to start in or expand in a Cream program. I will consider splitting into 2 groups if that becomes necessary. Several of these have had BOB, BIS, RIS winnings. (Hilmar and the 3 PE Creams are no longer in this package)

I am thrilled to share that I have officially passed the Cavy Judges Exam at ARBA Convention last week! This has been a long-term goal and a true labor of love, and I am beyond excited to take the next steps in serving the fancy in a deeper and more meaningful way.

This accomplishment didn’t happen alone, and I am so grateful for the support I’ve received along the journey.
✨ Thank you to Kathi Groves for the late-night quiz sessions—even while I was traveling!
✨ To the judges who coached me during my registrar assists, your guidance, feedback, and encouragement made all the difference.
✨ To the breeders who helped me refresh breeds outside my current herd—Laurie Krogen for Abyssinians, and Penny & Laurel Christopher, Robin Placey, and Amanda Hoffman for Teddys, I haven’t raised since the late ’90s and early 2000s—your generosity in sharing stock and knowledge was invaluable.

✨ And to every judge and breeder who wished me luck, offered wisdom, or believed in me—thank you. Your support fueled me.

As I move into the next phase, I am eager to begin completing my required judging assists starting in January. If your club has weekend shows and would be willing to have me assist, please send me your show flyers. I am willing to travel and fly to make this a priority and keep momentum strong. I’ll also be reaching out to a few specific judges whom I would be honored to work with during this process.

I am deeply committed to our hobby, our animals, and the future of the fancy—and I can’t wait for what comes next. 🐹❤️
Thank you all for being a part of this milestone!

-Erica
