The three C’s of grief healing—choose, connect, and communicate—can really help when navigating the loss of a beloved pet.

Choosing means letting yourself grieve in your own way and being kind to yourself in a time when we feel a loss of control, even when our hearts are heavy and burdened.

Connecting is important as well. Just having another person present, without saying a word, can help immeasurably. We are not meant to do this life alone.

Communicating about your needs and what works best for you right now will help your support system know how best to come alongside you to help you heal.

Remember. we are navigating a road that doesn’t have GPS guidance. We must find our way and do what’s best for us. We just don’t have to do it alone.

Memorial Idea - Pet Memory Box
Creating a pet memory box can be a gentle way to honor your pet’s life. Fill it with favorite photos, a collar or tag, a well-loved toy, a paw print, or handwritten memories. It is also an especially child-friendly activity - a place for drawings, notes, and other mementos. Gather a little dirt, sand or pick and dry a flower from their favorite spot to place inside.
