We are SO excited to be hosting a booth at the NHS Marge Durham Walk & Dog Fest for the **second year in a row!** 🐶💙

This is truly one of our favorite events of the year, and we can’t wait to spend the day surrounded by adorable pups, amazing people, and our incredible community! Last year was so much fun, and we’re counting down the days until we get to do it all again!

We’re officially expanding, and construction is underway!

We are beyond grateful for the incredible growth and support we’ve experienced throughout the years. Because of you, we’re creating even more space to welcome our amazing patients and clients. ❤️

You may notice things feeling a little crowded up front while construction is underway. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through the temporary inconvenience. We promise it will be worth it!

Last but certainly not least, we'd like to introduce the newest member of our veterinary team, Dr. Aubrey Gauntt!

Originally from Topeka, Kansas, Dr. Gauntt earned her bachelor's degree in Biology from Washburn University, where she conducted research studying the personality and movement ecology of wild ornate box turtles. She then went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Kansas State University.

Dr. Gauntt has a passion for exotic pets and wildlife conservation, with a special love for reptiles—especially turtles! 🐢 She was drawn to veterinary medicine because it combines two of her greatest passions: caring for animals and educating the people who love them.

When she's not at the clinic, you'll find Dr. Gauntt spending time her furry and scaly family: two pittie mixes, Nellie and Phil, a rescue three-toed box turtle named Crabapple, and a leopard gecko named Lasso.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, and watching movies.

We're so excited to have Dr. Gauntt on the Southpaw team, and we can't wait for you and your pets to meet her! 💚🐾

Next up, we'd love to introduce you to Dr. Cassie Black! 💚🐾

Originally from Bellevue, Nebraska, Dr. Black has had a passion for animals from an early age. Whether she was volunteering with local animal rescues throughout the Omaha area or caring for a variety of pets—including dogs, cats, pigs, geckos, and hedgehogs—her love for animals naturally led her to veterinary medicine.

Dr. Black earned her Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences from Kansas State University in 2022 before completing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree through the 2+2 UNL–ISU Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine.

She enjoys working with patients of all species but has a special passion for exotic companion animals. She's excited to join a team that shares her commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care to every pet that walks through our doors.

When she's away from the clinic, Dr. Black loves spending time with her three dogs—Remington, Moose, and Ellie—playing video games, reading, and exploring her creative side through a variety of hobbies.

We're so excited to have Dr. Black as part of the Southpaw family and can't wait for you to get to know her. Be sure to say hello the next time you're in the clinic! 💚

Next up is Dr. Jayme Williams💚

Originally from the small town of Farlington, Kansas, Dr. Jayme's passion for veterinary medicine began in high school while volunteering at her local animal shelter and shadowing at a veterinary clinic. Those experiences inspired her to pursue a career dedicated to helping animals.

Dr. Jayme earned her Bachelor's degree in Animal Science and Master's degree in Veterinary Biomedical Sciences from Kansas State University before completing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at K-State.

She has a special passion for preventative care, exotic animal medicine, anesthesia, and strengthening the human-animal bond.

We are so excited for our patients and clients to get to know Dr. Jayme and to see the compassionate care she brings to every appointment. Welcome to the Southpaw family, Dr. Jayme—we're so happy you're here! 💚🐾
