This weekend at the farm stand Farmer Bill will be selling all the chubs…for a screaming deal! Load up at the low, low, price of $10/lb! And remember, our chubs freeze beautifully…but they’re also good through Summer as is!

So come by this weekend and load up your fridge for summer! We will also have feta, baby golden child and curiosity (hard cheeses), and truffles!

This weekend at the farm stand!

Fresh feta!!!

Plus, Gouda, Truffles, Chèvre, and Curds!
Matthew and I just got back from hauling gear in the mountains so Farmer Bill helped get the kids to and from school this week. 💪🙌

Come see him at the farm stand and ask which he likes better...bringing cheese to the people or herding two feral farm kids around. 🤣😂

It’s time to get serious about the idea of raising pack goats.

It’s time to get serious about these pack goats. Since we own both a goat dairy and a horse packing business, it only seemed natural that we should also have pack goats.

This week alone two separate situations came up where we could have provided better access to the woods if we were packing goats and not horses.

But keeping goats is expensive, so if these guys (and the 5 male babies we retained this Kidding Season) are going to stay we need to get serious about training.

So I’m thinking…in the mountains we’re going to need to tie them to trees so they should practice being tied.

Did I do it wrong? I’ll take all your advice on raising productive and healthy pack goats!

Last night at 10 pm Matthew was making feta for our CSA members and I was making sure I had everything loaded up in the horse trailer for our first trip of the season.

I had no idea we were about to be part of such a huge milestone! What an honor it is to work with such impeccable humans.

After school snack.

Shredded baby golden child, two tortillas, and a waffle iron.

And yes, my waffle iron has been through the apocalypse (and survived.)

I made one for me, too, since I was outside being a farmer all day and only came inside to make an after school snack, but for mine I threw in leftover kale salad. It was delicious.

This month we quietly turned 10 years old.

I say quietly because, much like our own wedding anniversary over the years, we forgot to celebrate it. Not because it’s not special, it is. Most small dairies we know never make it to 10. But, if I’m being honest, the same anxiety driven hustle and flow that propelled us through the early years of starting a first-generation goat dairy is still powering us today.

The amount of times we have adapted, pivoted, reinvented this farm is dizzying—and yet, here are.

Ten years older...and ten years wiser (ha!)

But this isn’t a sob post. I kind of hate those honestly. Every human on this planet could write their own sob post and have it mean something. I don’t want to do that.

Instead, I want to recognize all you incredible souls who have, for the past ten years, made our cheese an ingredient in your lives. Yes there are some of you who just found us (welcome! We’re so happy you did!) but also there are those of you who have been supporting the dream of local goat dairy in your community since day 1.

It’s because of you and your choice to spend your hard earned money on goat cheese named after a peacock (who is using a photo of a goose) that we can even say (belated) Happy Anniversary.

And it’s because of you that Olympia still has a robust, dare I say, thriving goat herd in it’s midst.

This business is uncertain...shoot, the world is uncertain...but I do know one thing for sure.

When enough people come together and say yes, producing food in my backyard is important, we take away just a tiny hint of the uncertainty that hangs over all of us like a storm cloud.

The zombies may eventually come...but if they do...at least we won’t be hungry.
