Well, it looks like we all made it around the Sun for 2025, some hiccups but we made it….
2025 saw the Full Throttle Fearless Pack run in their last Hunt Test, well we might run one to finish one dog but maybe not. It also saw the last litter from our kennel, I am retiring from breeding. We produced some nice hunting dogs throughout the years, and had some disappointments also. 2025 also witnessed me getting a new truck, yea Chevy HD 2500 diesel, what was I thinking, it cost the same as what I paid for my house in 1993! 2025 Chonghui retired then went back to work and retired again and for good. It also saw me in the hospital to get my ticker reset, so far so good! It looks like it was the last year for pheasant hunting in Western Washington, sad days. The Gov shutdown did us no favors, closing our training grounds for about six weeks…dogs got fat, maybe me too LOL.
All in all 2025 was a break-even year, ups and downs but we are still looking at the grass on the green side, not the roots…. Speaking of grass, just for my eastern family and friends, just finished cutting the grass for the last time in 2025! Yup Dec 31 not shoveling snow but cutting grass, and that’s why I live here…
What will 2026 bring? The world is an amazing place, I sure with our pack, friendships and family it will be a good year!
I wish all of my family and friends near and far blessings and good thoughts for the new year!

Today was the end of an era, the last day of Western Washington Pheasent Release Program. The Washington State Department of Fish and Game raised about 40,000 birds at the game farm in Chaleis WA for 30 or more years. Suddenly the farm is polluting the ground water, ahh no mention of all the dairy farms in the area, so they are closing. Rumers are the city wants the land for low-cost housing; hmm we will see. No birds, no release program thus the end of an era. We will have to travel to Eastern Washington next season a 2.5 hour drive each way.
We harvested a total of 22 birds mostly roosters, The 5 week government shutdown resulted in some areas closed so down from our usual 80-100 birds. Was a disappointing season.
We ended the season with at least a bird a day over Thanksgiving long week end. Not a perfect ending but not bad either.

My elected Representatives to the Legislature,

First off, the WDFW admin was given a directive from the Governor to reduce their budget significantly. The WDFW admin decided one way they would do that is to eliminate the Bob Oke game farm, ending the state's involvement in raising pheasants. Because this is the ONLY source of pheasants for Western WA, It would mean the end of pheasant hunting in Western WA. The game farm also supplements the wild pheasant population in Eastern WA so that would also be greatly impacted as well. p[lease note that our license fees pay for the majority of this program. At its inception we hunters paid the costs and we are very willing to continue to do so.
WDFW has submitted their budget proposal to the Governor. The Governor has signed off on it initially and it will go to the legislature for approval from the house and senate. If the house and senate sign off then the Governor will give it the final signature.
The game farm is funded through fiscal year 2025 but not beyond that in the budget proposal. The cancellation of this resource will have a ripple effect though the state, Hunters will not be paying the $84.50 pheasant hunting license fee, sporting goods stores that sell them will lose those fees, as well as the sale of hunting equipment and upland hunting clothing, Upland hunters will travel to adjoining states where there is a population of wild pheasants which are non-existent in western WA.
Many seniors like myself have hunted the release sites for 20 years or more and many of us are too old to travel long distances to enjoy the sport we love and many of us have passed this love onto our children and grandchildren, and in my case, to my great grandchildren.
For The above stated reasons I am asking you to vote NO on this particular budget proposal from the WDFW.

Respectfully submitted
