This was part of an interaction with a young couple last night that spoke only Mandarin Chinese. Thankfully, we were able to call an interpreter to use in the exam room. I used Google translate to translate the entire discharge instructions into Mandarin. Thankfully, the issues were very minor and hopefully the pup is feeling better now!

I'm sorry that I haven't posted much lately. I'll be working this weekend (Sat and Sun overnights) at the Peninsula Pet Emergency in Sequim WA. It'll be my first time working there and I am super excited! This is a relatively new, independently-owned, weekend only, after-hours, pet ER. They provide after-hours emergency veterinary care for families in a large, previously underserved area. Let's go!

San Francisco – you never disappoint. On my last trip here it was a tiny dog that licked up co***ne off the sidewalk. This time it was a small dog that ate something small of some stairs during a walk. Yes, that is a positive urine drug screen for fentanyl. Both patients did well by the way after proactive medical management.

Also, this is a regular office paper stapler that apparently must be shaken before using. 🫨😂

Finally, this is me on day six, travel day home, trying to stay focused and muster the energy to pack for my flight home.

I haven’t been checking-in on FB too much lately. I have been traveling more and it’s been a few months since I’ve been back to my BluePearl home in Tacoma. This is what I came in to for my shift Sunday night! Maddy was my Mini-me that day 😂

Anyone who has followed me for some time is most likely aware of my proclivity for thoroughly checking hotel rooms that I stay in for pet hazards. When the pooch "Little Bow Peep" is with us, then she must stay on the bed until I have performed this exhaustive search. We have been very fortunate lately and have found no major hazards. This particular room is very clean. In the past, I have found many food items, medications, vitamins, illicit drugs, and other dangers. The most common places that they hide are under the couch, under the sink and/or bathroom cabinets, and under the bed.

Please remember if you travel with pets or children, always do at least a basic room sweep for dangerous things on hotel room floors!

Well San Francisco, it was another fun work trip. Cute patients (some of them), descent weather, great veterinary team(!!), tendon repair, GDV (😟), co***ne toxicity, etc. I’m glad to be heading back home. I’ll be working nights in Gig Harbor later this week after a few days off. See ya! ✈️
