SPCA in Cattaraugus County Since 1905, we have provided safe shelter and second chances for the animals of Cattaraugus County. Four large outdoor play yards, approximately 400 sq. ft.

The SPCA in Cattaraugus County, is a non-profit, no-kill charity animal shelter, and was founded in 1905. We are dedicated to saving the lives of animals, and providing adoption services for homeless and neglected animals. Donations and fundraisers account for approximately 70%+ of our yearly income. Over the past 29 years, we have helped to find loving homes for over 40,000 animals. We are the la

rgest animal shelter in New York's southern tier. In 1984, we moved into a building located on 11 acres, with significantly more space than our previous location. We have 68 dog kennels (indoor/outdoor) and 4 rooms dedicated to housing cats including 2 open cat rooms that allows the cats to romp & play without being confined to a cage. each, are used as exercise areas for the dogs. We also have a barn to house farm animals removed from cruelty cases. A large medical/restricted area serves as temporary housing for animals in need of medical attention, rehabilitation, or recovery time. Here they receive individual treatment from our medical staff in a controlled environment.

Meet Opie 🐾❤️

At 10 years old, this sweet old gentleman is trying to figure out what shelter life is all about. What we do know is that Opie is nothing short of a loving companion. He’s a respectful, gentle soul who enjoys the company of people, kids, and other dogs alike. (And if needed, we can cat test him for interested adopters!)

Opie’s favorite things in life are simple: soaking up the sunshine, getting the perfect scratch on his hind end, and spending time with the people he loves. He’s the kind of dog who just wants to quietly be by your side through life’s little moments.

This sweet man deserves a soft place to land and a family to love him through his golden years — the way every good dog should be loved. Please consider opening your heart and home to Opie and giving him the comfort, warmth, and companionship he deserves. 🏡✨

🚨 GOOFBALL ALERT 🚨

Meet Klaus — a 1-year-old bundle of zoomies, brains, and pure happy energy! 🐾 This handsome dude is basically the class clown who also somehow gets straight A’s. Klaus already knows commands like sit, shake, come, and his personal favorite… BALL 🎾 (seriously, mention a ball and you’ve got his full attention).

Klaus is eager to learn, super trainable, and always ready for his next adventure. Whether it’s hiking, playing fetch until your arm falls off, or showing off his good-boy skills for treats, this guy is READY. He’d thrive in an active home that can help keep both his body and busy brain happy!

Klaus has done well with kids and may do well with other dogs pending a meet & greet. He’s neutered, fully vetted, and officially accepting applications for “Best Friend Ever.” 💙
