Update: Internet restored! Thanks again to GypsySoul Nutrition for getting us through!

09/25/2026

Hello, Southern Tier! We have bad news and good news.

The bad news is that we're having significant internet issues. As our entire clinic is dependent on internet access, this has affected our ability to function and will do so until we've fully resolved the problem. We'll keep you updated.

The good news is that our neighbors at GypsySoul Nutrition are amazing and have come to our rescue!!! They've always been there to keep us caffeinated, but today they went the extra mile and have let us use their wifi which is why we're able to operate at all.

Please be patient with us while we resolve this situation as quickly as we can. And take some time to visit GypsySoul Nutrition's page to give them a thank you or maybe even swing by to grab a drink!

I went to do my weekly shopping at Canticle Farm last week and was surprised by this banner featuring the donors for their food pantry program. There we are, front and center!

Canticle has great fresh veggies but did you also know that they stock chicken, pork, beef, eggs and milk? As well as a whole bunch of other things like dried mushrooms and honey.

This is Steph, head farmer. She works her buns off for this farm and the community.

At EMUVC, we love to work with the community partners that make our home a wonderful place. Go snap up those last 25 tickets! I can tell you this event is a good time with LOTS of great raffle prizes!

We received some very sad news today. A kitten that came into the clinic on Monday was confirmed to have rabies. This kitten was from PA but there have been a couple of cases in NY recently as well. It is so important to vaccinate your pets for rabies, folks.

This family now has to deal with not only the exposure to themselves, but all of their pets as well. I can tell you from experience that if your pets are exposed and they are not vaccinated, the health department will typically recommend that they all be euthanized.

Rabies is here, it is real and it is 99.999999% fatal. Contact your local health department for free rabies clinics in your area, many places have them once or twice a year. Family vets and pop-up clinics such as the ones at Tractor Supply are also good options. If needed urgently, we stock rabies vaccines in case your pet has an encounter with a possibly rabid animal.

Check out this amazing art from local artist, John Gugino! We have named these pieces after some special patients, check through and see if yours is in there ❤️ Take home one or request a custom piece!

These pieces are available at EMUVC. All proceeds go to John.

As a reminder, we are open on July 4th, as we are on most holidays.

July 4th weekend is one of the busiest weekends of the year. Last year, we saw enough patients that it worked out to about one every 20 minutes for the entire weekend. And these are not your average vet visits, folks. We're seeing everything from hit by car to poisoning to just terrified of fireworks to UTIs and everything in between. We're often squeezing in a major surgery like a foreign body or a c-section among those cases. We're giving blood transfusions, we're splinting legs, we're sewing up lacerations and bite wounds, we're hearing tragic stories while we help someone lay their best friend to rest.....and on and on. Our caseload rivals large practices with multiple vets on staff. We are handling this with one doctor and 9 staff.

We know that if you have to come see us that it means something has gone wrong in your life. You didn't budget the money, the time or the emotions to deal with this today. We get it. We do our best to make these tough situations as easy as they can be.

As always, bear in mind that we are human beings working as hard as we possibly can for you and for your pet. Each and every person who works at EMUVC is necessary and treasured. We have a zero tolerance policy of mistreatment of our staff. Period.

Thank you to all and have a safe 4th of July.
