Happy Easter! We are open today! And remember these Easter hazards:
1) Easter lilies are extremely toxic to cats - any part in any amount
2) Cats love to eat Easter grass and get obstructions!
3) Dogs love to help your kids eat their Easter candy - don't let them!
4) Yeast dough is a problem but also delicious

Urinary obstruction is one of the top emergencies that we see. ANY sign of a urinary issue in a male cat should be seen ASAP. This is urine from a cat with an insane amount of urinary crystals. Can you imagine having this in your bladder?!

Y'all! I have some GREAT news that is going to brighten your day! Later this year, a veterinarian is opening a low-cost spay/neuter/dental/etc practice in BRADFORD!! This is slated to happen in the last quarter of this year, but she gave me permission to let y'all know that it is in the works. Yaaayy!!! More details as I learn them :)

If you've been in to see us over the last 2 weeks, you may have met (future) Dr. Emily Gustafson! Emily is a 3rd year vet student who is beginning her senior rotations and came to spend one of her externships with us. She got to see lots of interesting cases and spayed/neutered EVERY spay/neuterable pet at the CattCo SPCA in Cattaraugus County! She's pictured below with some of her surgical patients.

Here at EMUVC, we strongly believe in training up future generations. We are currently mentoring 3 vet students, 2 vet tech students and have hosted dozens of little kids on field trips. Every member of the staff is part of the effort to make our little corner the world better!

We are greatly saddened at the recent passing of Dr. Lopez. Our hearts go out to his friends, family, co-workers, all of his clients and the many patients he has served.

VERDICT AND TRIGGER WARNING: If you don't want to see the surgical video - do not watch! But the people clearly want the surgical video!!

A lot of you nailed this one! It was a huge toy squirrel. You can see the squeaker in the stomach - it's the darker gray area that's sort of oval shaped, surrounded by the lighter colored material that is the fabric. Please pardon us laughing in shock at how huge this thing was when I was removing it. I promise we take our work very seriously....but....dang, Oliver!

Next up in our series of FBI:OPD is Oliver. Oliver may have regretted starting to eat this particular foreign body, but he's a dog who believes in finishing what you start and he powered on through!

In addition to your guesses as to what Oliver decided to eat, I need your votes on whether I should post the video of surgically removing it from his stomach. I've had mixed reviews from friends and I don't want to traumatize anyone, but let me tell you, it's impressive. It's also not very gross, I swear! You can't see any organs and there's not really any blood.
