Before N After Dog Training

Before N After Dog Training Science-based training with an integrative wellness approach. Come learn about an integrative approach to behavior & wellness in your pet!

We address root-cause behavior, build clear communication, and deliver practical tools that create calm, confident dogs. We can not avoid genetics (the raw material your dog was born with), environment (how prior experiences or current living manifests itself) and lifestyle (what, when and how much we do) as key factors in our health and wellness as well as our companion animals. Together we do a root cause analysis to create a healthy well mannered dog.

Before you punish the behavior, ask what your dog actually knows. 🐶 New blog: learn how teaching impulse control — stopping forward movement, settling, and waiting for info — turns reactive instincts into reliable responses at doors, greetings, meals and more. Perfect for everyday situations where your dog’s first impulse is to move. Read the full post: https://wix.to/xO7sclM

Perfect heeling doesn't start on the street.

It starts here, with pivots and body awareness.

We learn to move together before asking the dog to heel.

We first
• Develop connection & alignment then build focus to build engagement and confidently transition into real-world environments without constant rewards or corrections.

How many repetitions does it take to teach your dog some thing new? Alot of times we assume the dog knows and is being spiteful or defiant. Sometimes that just isn't fair. This is a generalization as we all know a pup that is easier to teach and one that just doesn't get it even within the same breed. Is that your experience?

WHAT'S IS A BEHAVIOR CONSULTATION? A consultation is a full behavior focused assessment of the dog in front of you, the people they live with, and the environment they are trying to navigate.

During the consultation, we look at what is actually happening, not just the behavior label. We discuss your dog’s daily routine, triggers, stress patterns, impulse control, recovery time, handling, leash skills, household dynamics, equipment, reinforcement, and how your dog communicates.

A large part of every consultation is understanding canine preferences for better communication. Dogs are constantly giving us information through their choices, avoidance, engagement, hesitation, play style, food interest, social interest, and comfort in different environments. When we understand what your dog prefers, what they avoids, and what helps them feel safe enough to participate, training becomes clearer and more effective.

You will leave with practical recommendations, management strategies, training priorities, and a better understanding of how to support a calmer, more responsive dog.

For many families, one consultation is enough to create meaningful change. For others, it becomes the foundation for a more complete training plan.
