June is Adopt-a-Cat Month! 💗🐱

If you've been feeling like something is missing, wishing for a little more companionship, or thinking your life could use another friend, this might be the perfect time to meet a new feline bestie.

Cats have a special way of making a house feel like a home. They offer comfort during quiet moments, make us laugh with their quirky personalities, and somehow always seem to know when we need a little extra company.

This month, consider visiting a local shelter or rescue on the CT Shoreline. You might just meet:

💗 A playful kitten ready for adventure
💗 A laid-back adult cat who wants a cozy lap
💗 A senior cat looking for a second chance
💗 A shy cat waiting for someone patient enough to see how wonderful they are

The cat who changes your life may be waiting for you right now.

And if you're not ready to adopt, sharing adoptable cats from local rescues can help them find loving homes, too.

Here's to finding friendship, companionship, and maybe a few extra cat hairs on your furniture! 💗🐾

Here are a few quick pet toy safety reminders for CT Shoreline pet parents:

💗 Choose toys that are appropriately sized for your pet to help prevent choking hazards
💗 Regularly inspect toys for loose pieces, tears, cracks, or stuffing that could be swallowed
💗 Supervise dogs with chews, ropes, squeakers, or anything they like to destroy
💗 Skip toys that are too hard, if you wouldn’t want it hitting your knee, it may be too hard for your dog’s teeth
💗 Wash toys regularly to reduce bacteria, dirt, and slobber buildup

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, choosing safe, durable toys and monitoring wear can help prevent injuries and accidental ingestion. If you ever suspect your pet has ingested part of their toy, it's important you recognize the following signs of intestinal blockage:

⚠️ Repeated vomiting or retching
⚠️ Loss of appetite
⚠️ Lethargy or unusual tiredness
⚠️mAbdominal pain or a tense, bloated belly
⚠️ Straining to p**p or producing very little stool
⚠️ Diarrhea (sometimes only small amounts or very watery)
⚠️ Whining, restlessness, or signs of discomfort
⚠️ Excessive drooling
⚠️ Dehydration
⚠️ Hunched posture or reluctance to move

Safe toys = happier playtime and fewer emergency vet visits! 💗

Some dogs love a cozy sweater, raincoat, or adorable bandana on their CT Shoreline walks… and some prefer the full “birthday suit” experience 😅🐾

Honestly? We support both.

What matters most to us is that dogs are comfortable, safe, and able to move naturally during their walks and adventures.

But whether your dog is dressed to impress or happily naked, there’s one thing we always strongly recommend:

💗 A well-fitted collar with current ID tags attached. 💗

Even for dogs walked on harnesses, visible identification is one of the simplest and most important safety measures pet parents can use. If a dog ever slips loose unexpectedly, updated tags can help them get home much faster.

Cute seasonally-appropriate outfits are optional. Proper identification is not!

Anxiety in dogs is more common than many people realize.

Along the CT Shoreline, where dogs experience everything from summer storms and fireworks to busy seasonal activity and changing routines, most pet parents will notice signs of stress in their dogs at some point.

Anxious dogs aren’t “bad” dogs, and they’re not trying to make life difficult. They’re usually overwhelmed, uncertain, or struggling to cope with something in their environment.

In our blog, we share 5 ways to support anxious dogs in the CT Shoreline. Check it out at the link in the first comment and let us know how we can help exercise your dog(s) and enrich their days when time gets tight!

Be kind to animals!!!

Supporting animals on the CT Shoreline takes a whole community of animal lovers! 💗🐾

Professional pet sitters.
Dog walkers.
Trainers.
Veterinary teams.
Shelters and rescues.
Volunteers.
Pet parents.
Neighbors who stop to help a loose dog or share a lost pet post.

When we work together, animals are safer, healthier, and better supported.

No one person or business can do it alone, and honestly, we’re not supposed to. The strongest communities are built on collaboration, compassion, education, and people who genuinely care about animal wellbeing.

Every responsible choice matters:

💗 Supporting rescues and local businesses with donations and volunteerism
💗 Voting for representatives that prioritize animal welfare
💗 Spaying and neutering
💗 Proper training and socialization
💗 Keeping pets safely identified
💗 Helping one another when emergencies happen
💗 Protecting the environment
💗 Advocating for our pets and pets and wildlife in our community

We’re grateful to be part of a community filled with people who love animals as deeply as we do. Because when people come together, incredible things happen.

This Memorial Day, we’re taking a moment to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. ❤️🤍💙

As many families across the CT Shoreline spend time with loved ones, enjoy the outdoors, and gather for the long weekend, we’re especially grateful for the freedoms that make those moments possible.

Wishing everyone a safe, peaceful Memorial Day filled with gratitude, fresh air, and time with the ones you love most, two-legged and four-legged alike.

One of the funniest parts of being a pet parent is realizing your pet can do the absolute grossest thing imaginable… and you still somehow think they’re adorable. 💗🐾

😱 Rolling in something questionable on a shoreline walk? Cute.
🐾 Tracking mud through the house? Still cute.
😅 Trying to lick your face immediately after eating something suspicious or licking themselves? Horrifying… but also somehow still cute 😅

Pets really test the limits of unconditional love. 😆

Hurricane and summer storm season are almost here, which makes now the perfect time for CT Shoreline pet parents to create an emergency plan. 💗🐾

When severe weather hits, things can change quickly. Having a plan in place ahead of time helps reduce stress and keeps pets safer if you ever need to shelter in place, evacuate, or deal with power outages.

A few important things to prepare now:

💗 Extra food, medications, and bottled water
💗 Pet first aid kit
💗 Updated ID tags and microchip information
💗 Carriers, leashes, and emergency supplies easily accessible
💗 Copies of vaccination records
💗 A list of pet-friendly hotels or emergency contacts
💗 A plan for who will care for your pets if you’re delayed or unable to get home

Along the CT Shoreline, storms can bring flooding, fallen trees, road closures, and extended outages, so disaster preparation really matters.

The best emergency plans are the ones you hope you never need… but are grateful to have if you do! 💗
