Friends of Big Bear Valley announced it has secured the $10 million needed to preserve Moon Camp, a 63-acre forested shoreline and open space in Big Bear used by bald eagle pair Jackie and Shadow.
The nonprofit launched a grassroots fundraising campaign in mid-February to stop a proposed luxury development featuring 50 custom homes and a marina. More than 25,000 donations raised nearly half the goal, with the campaign reaching $10 million after Anna and Greg Brockman contributed more than $5.5 million.
