📊 OUR STATS TELL A STORY — AND WE HOPE THEY HELP PREVENT THE NEXT DOG FROM GOING MISSING.

For the past 4 years — 48 months — CT Dog Gone Recovery has tracked thousands of missing dog cases.

Month after month, year after year, we continue to see the same leading reasons dogs go missing:

🐾 Dogs left outside unattended, unleashed, or getting loose while outside
🚪 Dogs slipping out an open door

In our January–June 2026 statistics alone, 27.8% of dogs went missing after being left outside unattended, while another 23.1% ran out a door. That means more than half of these missing-dog cases came from just these two situations.

And that is why we are sharing this.

Many missing-dog situations can happen in a matter of seconds. A gate isn’t completely latched. Someone opens the front door. A dog who has stayed in the yard a hundred times suddenly takes off.

Please be proactive.

🐾 Supervise your dog while outside.
🐾 Use a leash when a secure enclosure isn’t available.
🐾 Double-check gates and fencing.
🐾 Be especially careful when people are coming in and out of the house.
🐾 Teach children and visitors to watch doors.
🐾 Keep collars, ID tags and microchip information current.

We know how heartbreaking it is when a dog goes missing. If sharing four years of what we’ve learned prevents even one family from experiencing that fear, then these statistics have served an important purpose.

We are looking for a reliable receptionist/vet assistant who is capable of multitasking in a busy practice in Old Lyme, CT.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:
Assisting the veterinarian during appointments.
Performing patient restraint.
Bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing for long periods of time.
Maintaining a professional attitude during stressful situations.
Being compassionate and sympathetic with clients.
Having excellent written and verbal skills with staff and clients.
Having telephone and computer skills.

Applicants with prior veterinarian office and Cornerstone experience preferred but not necessary.
