Good afternoon!

As you know, we have a fun holiday approaching: well, fun for us, not so fun for many pets.

We will be closing at 3pm on Friday, July 3 and will reopen on Monday, July 6th.

If your pet needs some medication for the loud festivities over the weekend, you need to put that order in NOW.

We do require 24 hours notice to fill prescriptions, so get your order in NO LATER THAN Thursday, July 2nd.

There are some other preventive measures you can take whether or not you're home with your pet during this busy week/weekend:

Create a comfy space in a bedroom or another relaxing spot for your pet to feel safe when the noise and flashing start (a crate that's covered with a dark blanket allows your pupper to crawl into a cave to feel secure). Close both blinds and curtains. Leave a light on along with a tv or radio.

These tips can be helpful in allowing your pet ride out this weekend a little easier ❤️

If you experience a pet emergency while we are closed, please visit the link below to the "Emergency Contacts" page of our website.

As always, we want to wish everyone a very fun, and very safe holiday weekend!

This should happen to every owner everywhere who does this, and the pet should be taken away and put in foster care to find a safe home.

PLEASE, if you have your pet in the car in the summer or winter, leave the car running with heat or a/c on.

Regional Situation & Pet Travel Concerns ⚠️

We know many of you are feeling anxious right now. Uncertainty is understandably high - particularly if you’re a pet owner and wondering what options you have.

While awaiting updates on flights resuming, here's a few important basics:

-Microchip: Required with date of implant officially recorded. Majority of countries require proof of microchip implant prior to at least the most recent rabies vaccination.

-Rabies Vaccination: Primary vaccination (or a lapse): wait period between 21 days and 3 calendar months prior to travel, depending on destination.

- Core Vaccinations:
For Dogs: rabies, distemper, canine hepatitis, leptospirosis and parvovirus (DHLP).
For cats: rabies, feline rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and panleukopenia - usually a combined vaccination.

Each country has different entry requirements, so timelines and processes will vary depending on destination. We can guide you through the exact requirements based on where you need to go.

We understand this is an unsettling time. Please try to remain as calm as possible - our pets are incredibly sensitive to our stress. Keeping their consistent routine will help them feel safe.

Our DKC Relocations, Pet Hotel and Veterinary Clinic are here for you. Many of you have already reached out, and we are responding as quickly as possible.

We are here to help.

Unfortunately, it's an issue. Please, keep them safe.

HEY! If you're going to crime, please leave your dog at home with someone who is choosing not to crime. When you get caught and go to jail, your furry bestie has to go to doggy jail, and this makes adorable puppies very, very sad. We sincerely hope you don't crime at all and decide to stay home and play with your dog instead. Please & Thanks.
-Sincerely, all the dogs who have ever had to go to doggy jail when their human went to people jail

As spring arrives, residents may notice raccoons out during the daytime more often. In Connecticut, raccoons typically have their young in the spring, and mother raccoons are actively searching for food to care for their babies.

Seeing a raccoon during the day does not automatically mean the animal is sick or dangerous. Daytime activity is often normal during this time of year.

In most cases, raccoons should be left alone. Animal Control should be contacted only if a raccoon appears injured, trapped, or is acting aggressively.

You can help reduce raccoon activity around your home by securing trash, removing outdoor food sources, and avoiding intentional feeding.
