Also, Donkeys use their eyes as a main detector of danger. You may witness them staring off into the distance being able to identify movement long before you do. Donkeys can use both eyes to focus on objects , binocular vision, or use one eye for monocular vision. Their blind spots are directly behind them and directly in front of them and directly above their head. Donkeys have excellent night vision although they do need time to adjust from bright light to low light conditions. This is why they can be hesitant to walk into a dark situation from daylight. Donkeys are always thinking about safety.
