Big things are happening.

What started as JOCO Pet Search & Rescue has grown far beyond what we ever imagined. Over the past several months, we’ve responded to lost pet emergencies across the entire Kansas City metro area — helping reunite lost dogs and cats with the families who love them.

Because of that growth, JOCO Pet Search & Rescue is beginning the transition into:

KC Pet Search & Rescue

This change reflects both our expanding mission and our expanding team.

We are also proud to announce the addition of a second field team member as we continue building a larger emergency pet recovery network throughout the Kansas City metro area. As call volume continues to increase, expanding our team allows us to respond faster, cover more territory, and assist more families during critical recovery situations.

Our recovery operations continue to evolve with:

• Real-time search coordination

Another successful weekend for JOCO Pet Search & Rescue. These 3 kitties are now safely back home with their families.

For those who follow our recoveries, you already know this is not your typical cat recovery service. We are committed to a structured process built around guidance, strategy, compassion, and action.

When owners contact us, they are often overwhelmed, exhausted, and emotionally drained. Our goal is to turn fear and anxiety into focused problem solving. We help owners understand behavior patterns, create a recovery plan, and stay engaged in the process every step of the way.

This is not just about getting a cat back home. It is about giving owners support, direction, transparency, and a real partner during one of the most stressful moments they may ever face.

We do not guarantee recovery. What we DO guarantee is compassion, honesty, communication, and relentless effort.

Whether it is:
• Performing thermal scans from the ground
• Deploying thermal drones from the mobile command vehicle
• Monitoring activity on the 24” thermal display

Last night we responded to a missing indoor cat in Independence, Missouri after Koshka escaped through a window screen and disappeared into the neighborhood.

After hours of searching, her family contacted our emergency thermal pet recovery team for help. Using thermal equipment from the ground and deploying a thermal drone from the air, we were able to safely locate and recover Koshka during a two-hour nighttime search.

One of the most important parts of this recovery was the family’s willingness to take fast action and actively participate throughout the process. Indoor cats often stay much closer than people realize, but the first critical hours can make a major difference.

This video contains real moments from Koshka’s recovery, including thermal drone operations, owner guidance, and the moment she was safely reunited with her family.

We are incredibly grateful Koshka made it home safely.

Nothing could love you more than a dog.
Especially one who has been through what he has.

This dog was running scared, surviving on instinct, and staying just out of reach. It took coordination, patience, and the right approach to bring him to safety.

With the help of KC Dog Trappers and aerial support from JOCO Pet Search & Rescue, he now has a second chance.

He’s safe. He’s recovering. And now… he’s ready for a home.

This one was tough.

A stray German Shepherd in Raytown, Missouri.

KC Dog Trappers stepped in, and we worked together to coordinate the search and bring this one to a safe outcome.
