☀️ Summer brings more time outdoors, but it also brings seasonal hazards for our pets.

Keep an eye out for these common summer toxins:

-Mulch
Cocoa mulch is especially dangerous because it contains compounds similar to chocolate. Other mulches can also cause stomach upset, intestinal blockage, or irritation if large amounts are ingested.

-Fertilizers
Common products include lawn fertilizers, weed-and-feed products, and bone meal fertilizers.

-Insecticides
Watch for ant bait, slug bait, mosquito treatments, and lawn insect control products.

-Toxic Plants
Some common summer plants include lilies, sago palms, azaleas, oleander, and hydrangeas.

-Citronella Products
Citronella candles, oils, sprays, and plants can all be harmful if ingested.

If you suspect your pet has ingested a toxin, contact us right away at 913-254-1954 or call Pet Poison Control at 855-886-7965.

Meet Axel, June's Dog of the Month 🐶

Axel is 3.5 years old and enjoys the finer things in life: naps, sunny spots, and hanging out with his daycare friends. His favorite toy is Mr. Squirrel, and when he gets a new chicken flavored bone, he runs around trying to "bury" it before settling in to enjoy it.

You'll usually find Axel making the rounds with his friends or claiming the best spot for a nap. We're happy to have him as part of our daycare family and excited to feature him this month.

Thank you to the Brosseits for being part of the CCPH family and for sharing Axel with us. 🐾
